I posted this thread in a few different areas of the Café' and wanted to also include it here as well...
You get a phone call for an event. They have never seen you, only your website. They speak to you on the phone, book the show. When they finally "see" you, when is the first time to make a first impression? Answer: When you first drive up to their event! I never really thought of this until yesterday, but my client met me at the door to shake my hand and introduce himself and say that it was very nice that I showed up in a CLEAN CAR!!!! He went on to tell me that he books entertainment all the time (jugglers, bands, other speciality acts, etc.) and they always show up in a car that looks like it went off roading before they showed up to the event. I always wash my car. I'm a bit OCD about it. I'm a member of a car wash where 1 monthly fee gets me unlimited washes for a month. I pass this place every day and I always stop in and run it thru at least once per day. A clean car is a happy car. Since I spend a good portion of my day driving from gig to gig in my car, it's kinda like my 2nd home. So I like it to be clean inside and out always. Just something I do. Never really thought much about it till my client mentioned it to me. So...apparently folks to notice the condition of your vehicle when you pull up. Food for thought... Christopher P.S. I don't drive anything fancy. It's a Kia Soul that my wife calls my "clown car!"

Agree. It is also important that we don't look sloppy when we meet our clients. I will always make sure that I smell good, cut my nails, comb my hair before I leave the car to meet my clients.
It's the impression that counts. |

What a great point! I remember being told by a boss one time when I was selling cable to always make sure you don't have fast food trash falling out of your car when you open the door!
