Someone mentioned this trick in another thread, but didn’t know the source or specifics. Perhaps it will ring a bell with someone? Five cards (ace through five) are dealt face up on the table. Spectator places a coin on one of the cards. Some procedure is followed (moving the coin from card to card), depending on which card the coin was originally placed. Spectator ends up on a card predicted beforehand (the back is a different color, for example). Any ideas as to what this trick might be? If you know any similar tricks, that would also be appreciated.

Divination Ring in Woodyland by Woody Aragon has a similar plot.

Hi,

It was me that mentioned it, and I'd also be interested in finding the source.
I came across the effect quite a few years ago at a charity casino that was part of a Christmas party, the magician had a table and was doing this trick along with Rough and Ready, a 3 shells and possibly 3 card monte.

I watched him do it a few times and worked out how it was done, I've never seen it anywhere in print, video or live since though.

I should add that this topic being in the "all in the cards" section is slightly misleading, as it does involve one "move" that anyone who's ever picked up a packet trick can surely do.
