There was a string about this earlier. Check it out. There are not too many but there are a few the size you are asking for.

Shaun, Try Brad Burt (www.magicshop.com). I believe he's having some made. I don't know about price but I know that if he has any control over it (and in this case he does) he will make it a good deal. Note: I did not say 'cheap' but you will get a quality product that is guaranteed personally by Brad. I'd bet my last dollar that if you don't abuse it, it will last a lifetime.
By the way, I do not work for Brad or recieve ANY benefits by mentioning his products or shop/website.
Good luck Smile

With regards to Sasco's stuff, I've been very unhappy with their quality in the past.

While you can always have one made, I checked with Todd Lassen because I wanted him to make one for me. He said that the problem was a dollar size copper coin was hard to get. He also said that because of the size, it would be quite easy for the spectator to see the split.

Hope that helps.

I emailed Todd about the beautiful coins, but I have yet to hear back from him. I can't wait to see them, I have a boat load of his coins, top notch stuff.

The answer to your question is NO you cannot get an inexpensive C/S dollar coin. Maybe some of these people that have too much coin magic would give you one. C/S dollar coins were only produced many years ago with a centenial coin that was a Jumbo Penny they were made of solid copper.

Also years ago the Chinatown Coin was made in dollar size.

The only problem is you will need matching coins of whatever coin is used.

There are some VERY nice large Chinese coins out there on ebaY. There is a REAL Chinese 4 inch coin available. The larger coins were more like round ingots or mounds with symbols on the flat bottom. They are available too. in SILVER. Doubloons are about silver dollar sized. Might be much more classy to use gold doubloons than silver dollars for some routines.

These copper coins were the Sudbury copper cents. Brad Burt has them in stock. Johnson has made the C/S coins with them in the past. But you are right. They have NEVER been inexpensive.

Although Todd Lassen is really good at what he does, probably the best, there is a way to make this coin so that it is deceptive.

Bill,

I had a friend look for a long time for the Sudbury Coin and finally found one. Yes, Johnson made them.

Shaun, even if you are in the UK it might want to get a couple of these dollar size coins and have them made in your country or I know Johnson Products will make custom coin work on by request. You have some very fine coin makers in the UK, you might want to check with them.

Todd Lassen just got some beautiful Copper coins (more than one kind) to use with Silver Dollar size coins. He is making me a Hopping Half in that size. He also makes a wonderful Chinatown “Half” in Silver Dolor that looks great.

I just got his C/S/Brass in Silver Dollar size and it looks great. The brass coin he used was from Al Schneider, and is a perfect fit.

Yo might also want to contact roy keupers, as his prices are excellent... I think the biggest problem is finding the copper coin of that size, but I'm sure if you contact him, he might be able to make you a custom one for a lot cheaper than lassen...

The Book "Coins of Ishtar" by Jules DeBarros, is a really interesting use of 2 copper silver coins. Also has interestig ideas with the Chinatown coin.
