I am a bar magician and always prefer to use real fruit but carry Ammar's fruit for venues where I don't have that luxury. The detail on this older set is so fine that they believe they are real even when held and examined

I always have the Fab Fruit ready so that if I can't have the real thing for whatever reason, I don't have to use balls.
I just received a set of the new fruit Michael Ammar had molded. The Lemon and Lime are as good as the previous versions. The turnip has a much more realistic stem area, but the shape of the older turnip is closer to the real thing, as is the dullness of the color. The new turnip is a bit too shiny. The new potato is very realistic as well... except for the shine. The glossy texture may look a bit fake, I'm not sure. The older red potatoes were duller and that was more realistic, however the tan, russet color and the eyes on this new one look more realistic than they did on the red potatoes I have. I'm hoping that some handling of the turnip and potato will dull up the shine a bit. I'd love to know what brand of fruit Pop Haydn uses! Tossing fake fruit to the audience without them being able to tell it's artificial would be great. |

My final Chop Cup load is this fake cake. I usually end the routine along the lines of, "to me,its just a piece of cake..."
Best fake food item I've ever seen is Pop's Ice Cream cone, even though it's not for a cup routine.

The lemon and lime are as intricate and detailed as the original fruit. Money well spent and come highly recommended.

Thanks for all the replies. Since I posted my original question, I have gone back and forth using real fruit vs the faux fruit. All in the same restaurant bar venue. As far as I can tell the reactions are the same. No one has even wanted to handle the loads/fruit.
So I guess it boils down to personal preference. thanks again all. |

I still say using real fruit packs a greater impact than fake fruit, as long as you leave them with the audience, not for examination, but for them to keep. The practicality of doing this, however, depends on how often you perform.

Hi Pop,
Where do you get the silicone fruit In the pictures? I really like the half eaten apple and would like to use it in my chop cup routine. Thanks, Richard Quote:

The links above are probably not good. The fruit is not silicone, it is plastic and composites.
The fruit I have in the photos is solid silicone, realistic weight and feel and you can get it here: Nikki Grant http://www.replifoods.com/ |

I am very happy with Ammar's FAB Fruit... though real limes or lemons don't break the bank.
Thanks, Bruce |

I'm doing some research on and off into using Vectra line attached to one (light) fake fruit and to the outer bottom of a cup. The line is long enough for the fruit to hang behind the table top as a "hanging servante". I got this idea from Gaetan Bloom's routine called butttons (a coin through the table done with buttons as, at the time, there was no IT strong enough to hold a coin). If the threaded mouth down cup is in the middle, bringing the hand towards the left cup catches the thread in a very natural way and brings the load into the palm...

Here is the supplier Axel Hecklau recommends for fruit: http://der-verrueckte-laden.de/Was.html click on the link with the photo of a cheese platter that says "Lebensmittal - Attrappen" and their catalog for their fruit comes up.
In the photos the fruit looks good but I am having trouble because it is only in German. I have been impressed with the products Axel puts out, he clearly has a high quality standard. So I believe his recommendation of these fruit items is a good one. |
