After asking about no sequels, Irossall stated that a remake of Houdini would be nice. Any others have an idea for a remake? I would like to see Hitchcock's 'The Birds' redone with today’s technology.

I liked Titanic, I thought it was a very good film. So in the Disaster Film genre, what about making a movie on The Hindenburg Disaster?

This appears to be the year for remakes. Just got back from the movies and they had a poster for Starsky and Hutch. They ran previews for The Stepford Wives and
The Ladykillers which appears to be a Cohen brothers production with Tom Hanks in the Alec Guinness role.
Looks really good.

Most remakes are awful. The remake of Get Carter with Sylvester Stallone was no less than vomit-inducing. Why wreck a great film like that?!

The Italian Job remake was not bad, but not a scratch on the original (ahem, more British) version.

Oceans Elven was awful. Especially with terrible actors like George Clooney.

I do not understand why they always re-make movies that were/are great. Why not remake the ones that were terrible, and make them good?

I thought the remake of Psycho was blasphemy, and they better not even TRY to touch The Birds. Some movies are not meant to be "re-made". Smile

Although I agree with the above coments in general, let's not forget that some remakes are at least as good as the "original". There were at least two Titanic films made in the 50's. The remake of "The Fly" was as good as the first. Another which leaps to mind is the Maltese Falcon. The Bogart film was, I think, the third time it was made.

There have been many versions of "The Hunchback of Notra Dame", some better than the silent.

I could go on listing more, but it's got to be said that most remakes fall flat. I wonder why ?

Regarding the Hindenburg - a film of it was made in 1975. It is not highly thought of. A remake would be an improvement !

I would watch a remake of the birds, but... Only if Hitchcock directs. Smile

I would hardly call "Titanic" a re-make. That would be a bit like saying that every movie about World War II made since 1965 is a re-make of "Battle of the Bulge" (1965).
