How can I avoid my posts appearing twice?

Make sure you hit the "submit" button only once. I have double clicked the submit by error on more than one occasion. Just have to be careful.

Also, don't use the back button after you submit. The page immediately before the one that displayes your new post is the page which does the submission, if you go back to it, your message is resubmitted automatically.

Also, just a thought...

If suddenly "Web Page Not Found" error appears (and it happens too often for my tastes...), immediately close out and re-enter the Café from the front...I found out the hard way, that if you "reload" as it says to do, a double post will result...
