Barry, you seem to focus a lot on creativity. What products/resources do you recommend to help perforners be more creative?
when you get a seed of an idea from that point how long does it typically take to move from concept to being performed? |

Naturally I recommend anything on my site. www.barrymitchellproducts.com but you know that Randy because you're a good customer. My first book, The Magic of Thinking Creatively" explains my process for creativity. However, that book is out of print and only available now on my site as pdf or download. As far as other books anything on the subject of creativity is good. Anything by Doug Hall, Jump Start Your Brain. I really like the beginning of Vol 1 of Tarbell where he explains the story of selling canned milk. Great explaination of how to take a negative and make it a positive. I have a simple rule about the products I create and the stuff in my show. As much as possible it needs to be 1. the best in the world and 2. different from anything else in the world. That's a BIG goal but you have to shoot for the stars. To achieve that you need to know a little about what's in the world and a little more about wanting to be different. And the biggest part of all that process is to have a brainstorm team that makes everything I do better. And of course my facebook group both challenges me to do better and gives me SO MANY great ideas as well as helps SO MANY OTHERS.

How long from thought to stage?
It really depends. In most cases it goes from thought to script to brainstorm team to rewrite to brainstorm team to rewrite to test audience to changes to production to customer. No idea how long that takes. |

Yeah, your book on creativity is awesome, regardless of the performance style you have, the book has awesome examples and principles to guide a performer. Whereas I found other books limited because they seemed so tied to a particular performing style, your book is applicable across the board.
