I never would have believed it was possible to pick up a coin with the CP! That is an entirely different level of commitment than I am used to...

Thanks for the further background here Doc. Smile I have always reported what I saw and how it was presented to me. Eric Jones told me about Mano being able to "Classic Palm" a coin right off a table, and after introducing us at a Magic Seminar long time back now, Mano did just that, and while twirling a deck of cards in the other hand. It was all quite amazing to me, still to this day as I remember it. Smile

Since, as you basically say here, it looks just like what it is said to be, I had no reason to think otherwise. And yes, I have mentioned this many times on this forum. Happy that you checked further on it with Roth. I do not know the workings to Mano's "Mano Lift" but if it helps him to achieve something that looks like what it looks like/what it was said to be to me, then that's quite spectacular in its own right. Perhaps yet another wonderful move to be explained in your hopefully, "Encyclopedia of Coin Sleights II." Smile

This is one of those nice little sidebars in magic, one of those little stories that get told over and over again, the stuff of legends even…I'm happy to be a part of it somewhat with such notables. Smile Perhaps Mano can clarify all this for the better edification of us all one day, or perhaps just let it ride. Smile

Hey Marion mi hermano, que pasa:).Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate it.

Dr.Rubinstein is correct; what I use is Charles Morrit's purse palm, and you can find it in Bobo on page 334-335 the move is described in the explanation of the purse trick.

This is a short video of me performing the move:

Stay well everyone.

That move looks incredible.Great performance.
Someone once told me that hidden in Bobo's book are all kinds of subtleties and moves that can be adapted to perform other tricks or in your case miracles.

Wow, Mano, your name had been mentioned a few times before but I wasn't sure where to view your stuff. This video looks amazing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IipMg3dP......ywgZqyKA

That sound effect you do with the coins is driving me crazy - there is no movement with the other hand!
I look forward to seeing any other videos you produce Smile

Hate to say it Mb, but his 1 handed change looks insane and gives your crimp change a run for it's money Smile Not sure it's quite as versatile though if it's what I think he's doing.

Yes David, just about everything Mano does is insane, the guy's amazing! Smile From his underground bunker, Mano is the man… And folks in the know have been saying this for years. Smile

Glad he stopped by to give some insight on this and to show this wonderful move. You can see how I took this easily for what I was first told it was regarding the CP. It truly does look amazing and he can do it just like that right in front of you. He can do all sorts of things as he is an amazing closeup magician, coins, cards, sticks, rings, strings, rubber bands, whatever…He really is a magical fellow, and very humble. I am happy to call him a friend and brother. Smile

What I find coolest about him is that he can take an obscure move hidden in the pages of Bobo and modify it to look like that....not only is he an excellent magician but he is obviously a student of the art.

Good Luck, as it will take "lots of practice" for sure. Ponta is a very gifted fellow. Smile

Makes me chuckle a bit when I hear people say that their hands aren't big enough. Smile Then you see this guy do things with large coins that seems impossible for a little guy with small hands, that is until he showed you that it wasn't. Smile

He's a tremendous worker that helped to show that classic effects are but a point on the continuum of progress as to this & that.

So, keep moving forward Smile

Ponta's videos are clearly edited to make the sleights look like they do in those videos.
I've seen videos of Mickey Silver, Curtis Kam Roth, Bertini, Liwag and countless of other legendary coin magicians and none of them was even close to looking like what Ponta supposedly does.
Not saying he's not skilled- I'm saying he is enhancing his videos with very clever editing.

So, everyone else is doing this stuff by the book and Ponta's presentations are simply clever editing? Really? Not saying, you're saying that he's not highly skilled, but then just what exactly are you saying? I'm just askin'. I've seen all these other guys you mention, and yes they are good, but are you saying what Ponta does is, well, just too good to be true? He really can't be that good?

I just want to add that knowing the work ethic of the Japanese people and their sense of ethics and having seen some of Ponta's DVD "Sick" there is no editing involved.Get his DVD.Try some of his moves. Then say it's edited.

Mano ...you deserve all the praise you get you are great!

Then I guess Ponta did not do a good job with the editing Smile , even though I say perfect/flawless, there are still some flashes in the routine.

Frank thanks again for your words.

I gotta tell you, most DVDs are edited to reduce flashing to the audience. Also several takes are done, and the best selected. When producing a DVD you want to try to give the best performance to your audience. Flashing can happen not because the performance is flawed, but sometimes the angles of the camera aren't good for a move, and the magician can't always guage where the camera looks as opposed to an audience. Also, the close ups sometimes really burn the hand, and things may be seen that would not otherwise be perceived by an audience that watches from a bit further away. Sometimes the editing is bad, and you see more, but every DVD is editied with the intent of giving the best and most magical presentation. Ponta does the stuff he teaches. Mano, your false raven move is scary good. Congrats.

Well, that all sorta sounds like everyone else is doing whatever people might think Ponta is doing, vice-a-versa, or something like that. Smile They are all putting the best DVDs out there that they can and editing is a part of it. I don't think think that speaks any less of what they show us. I truly don't think any less of their abilities or what they show us in in demonstration of good magic. I guess we're back to "it's all good," more so than not..And that's pretty good, I'd say. Smile

Carry on! Smile

Hey Mano! So good to see you posting here again. Smile

You know I've watched every video you've ever posted on YouTube, and while I try I have never come close to what you do.

Mano is one of the most skilled coin magicians I have ever had the pleasure to watch. Even when I know exactly what he's doing, I'm still amazed and feel as if I have seen real magic.

Take care, Mano.
