I am wondering if with you can use beta fish for a fish production instead of a goldfish with most fish production gimmicks?

Betta fish are about as durable as goldfish and can certainly be more beautiful. The biggest disadvantage I see is the smaller size if you are doing a stage presentation and they don't get along with other Bettas in the same container.

Also consider a robo-fish with no need for a water-filled gimmick. http://www.amazon.com/Robo-Fish-Orange-E......0A9SQSYU

Hey thanks for your input guys! I think that perhaps I will practice with betas and if they just don't seem to work then I will switch back to goldfish. I have actually looked into robo-fish before but if I'm doing a fish production like Kevin James, the robo-fish I don't think will fit in the gimmick!

Does anyone know if robo-fish fit in thumb tip gimmicks for fish production? I feel as though becsuse of there size and hard shape inconsistant with the body of an actual fish, it just wouldnt fit.... but I could be wrong.

Apparently the robo-fish is 7.5 cm long, so too big for a thumb tip

A live fish has to fit into a flesh colored bottle along with water. The Robo-Fish IS the gimmick so there is no need to fit it into a container. You can drill holes to attach a monofilament thumb loop and it won't complain in the least. Throw it from hand to hand, sleeve it, palm it for hours... it doesn't care. All you need to consider is if it looks enough like a live fish when it hits the water and starts wiggling about to fool your audience.

Oh wow your so right! Why was I thinking I still had to use a thumb tip. Palming it would work perfect!
Thanks
