Some magicians and psychics are charlatans, and they make me antagonistic...or at least bored and insulted.

To “tar somebody with the same brush” that is to believe wrongly that someone or something has the same bad qualities as someone or something that is similar, is a common thing in this old world of ours. Magicians are similar to charlatans. Whether you like it or not. Such is life.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Magicians are not similar to charlatans. When magicians become charlatans, they deserve to be tarred with the same brush.

A magician is one who practices magic, sometimes considered the same as a sorcerer or witch. Conjurers are also sometimes called magicians, reflecting a historical confusion whereby legerdemain was considered to involve the supernatural. The name derives from the magus (q.v.), an ancient Persian priest, and the cognate maghdim a term meaning wisdom and philosophy.

A particular spectator comes to your show and is not all that focused, seems to resist 'getting into the spirit' of the show, might even be a bit sarcastic. (He found out earlier in the day that a favorite Aunt was diagnosed with cancer the day before.)
Same person comes in to see your show two weeks later and has the best time and is a wonderful spectator. (It was discovered that the cancer is one easily dealt with and the Aunt is going to be fine.) One can ask as a performer, "How does it 'serve' me to make a judgement about whether a particular audience member is good or bad?"

Isn't the point to amuse the people, the people that sorrow, that have no treasure but hope, no riches laid up but a memory of an ancient glory? :)

They don't have an inferiority complex, they don't believe that the magician tries to fool them in a bad way, they just enjoy the moment!! I'am not going to draw conclusions for anyone based in this basis, just wanted to say my thought. And I was talking not for a random person, but for the people who they like to spoil the show. Working class people, who live a boring, drudging, drudgery life, need to be distracted by entainers or they will rise up and overthrow the rulling class. So ecentially it is the entertainers job to entertain the unhappy people at all costs. Which is why entertainers are well paid. If it were not for the people that sorrow then you would all be out of work.
