The second season's first couple of episodes I recall thinking were kind of average, but it picked up steam again and the most recent few episodes have been excellent! I was watching with a friend of mine, and she looked at me and said "I really want to be Carbonaro-ed!" I really do too.
I think that poor woman on the most recent episode was like the first one on the series who actually acknowledged his change of clothes, she was so frazzled I was hysterical. And I loved how the "master painter" bit had a guy who was using paint brushes that were "Property of David Regal!" I really love this show, the best part being I forget sometimes that there's magic in there and I just like watching the whole story.

I love this show however I wonder if there are camera tricks involved. I saw a rerun today where someone was returning a rental car. Michael was the return agent and remarked about the sun roof, how this rental was not suppose to have one. He opened the sun roof, got in the car, stuck his hands through etc. Then He closes the sun roof, gets an ice scraper and proceeded to remove the sun roof. He rolled it up like it was some sort of magnetic sheet on top of the car. I have been around magic for over 50 years, I'm sorry, no way without some sort of camera hocus-pocus going on.

How about editing?

Then, the editing began to cut out beats in the effects making them appear more magical as seasons went on. Now, its just too unbelievable with the editing. I liked watching his artistry and I'm sad that it has been cut out of the show. |

That’s unfortunate to hear I hate when they do that. If a magician is skilled enough to get great reactions let us see and appreciate the skill don’t cut that out
Magic is all around us we just have to be willing to see it.

The problem with TV is that misdirection does not really work. The world shrinks up some. Add in slow mo and rewind buttons and it is REALLY tough to get away with anything!
It is a dilemma. Most who work on TV doing magic claim (I have never spoken to these folks about it mind you so I do not include them in "most folks.) they are trying to "duplicate the live experience for the TV audience". The edits and cuts are used to accomplish this very thing. It is the live experience you end up having while watching TV. Some go pretty far in my view, but use it as justification. Again I have never spoken with the people involved here so I am not speaking for them.
