On the other hand, by providing new moves, they are increasing the number of methods we can use, and thus improving the whole world of coin magic, which is a good thing. Even if they don't perform (subjectively) good magic, other magicians can make use of some moves, routines, of finesses to improve upon existing work.
I watched the review, and even though I won't buy the DVD for it's waaaaay above my coins skills and objectives, I found it much more intriguing and interesting than initially thought by just getting the trailer. P! |

It's all good.
I've seen people criticize Ponta The Smith's work, so they will criticize anything. I think it has to be recognize that things change, and the newer generations are the change, sometimes that we want but often times not. And that goes for magic, as it does for anything else really. I mentioned a few things I wasn't blown away by as to the video, but someone else may like those things. Often times, people need to hear some sort of patter with the magic. Ponta doesn't speak a word in his SICK! DVD, and I remember people here not always caring for that, though really the effects were well (though quite silently) explained.
I guess a lot of these new DVDs and trailers are a bit dramatic but I guess that's to sell the thing, make it interesting, etc. I agree that often times people will find something in the bag they like, something they can use, no matter if it's a good DVD or not as good. It can depend on who you are and your skill level, your experience. I've heard a lot of people recommend Jay Noblezado's coin DVD, and I've heard some notables never even mention his name as to coins. So, it all depends sometimes. Actually, most times you buy any of these DVDs by the big or small, you don't like everything on them and you don't do most things on it, if anything at all sometimes. It's a good thing if you can pick up something useful that you like, from anywhere you stop to look.
So, yeah, it's all good, for the most part. Gotta give the new jacks a chance too, because some of them will become the old timers you will come to swear by someday. ![]()

After watching the trailer a couple more times and watching the WPR review, I'm actually kind of in awe and may just have to pick this DVD up...
granted, it may be quite a while before I can even consider trying any of these tricks lol

It's hard to judge a project without seeing the entire DVD, but if the trailer is trying to sell the DVD, I would say that it goes against every one of my instincts - to do magic slow and fluid, without any extraneous motion. If moves look like moves, then they are not good moves. That being said, we are all passing judgement on a trailer, not the entire DVD. I always felt that if you find one thing (or more) you can use or apply, its a good investment.

Michael Rubinstein = Top coin magician in the world*
Craig Petty = Top coin magician in Europe** I value Michael's opinion over Craig's. *First place in close-up at the International Magic Congress in Bologna Italy (1983) & first place in close-up at the International Magic Congress in St. Vincent (1984) **In 2009 he was described by Magic Week as the greatest living coin manipulator in Europe.

Seems too "movey" - like it's meant to impress magicians with technical ability, not to entertain regular people with an experience of the impossible.
