Dear friends I'm interested in performing costume changes in my act.
I'm from Argentina. I've found a good fabric, the name translated would be "whashed silk". It's thin, light and doesn't wrinkle easily. But the problem is with the white colour. I would like to end with a white dress like most costume atcs but the white fabric is translucent. How can I solve that problem? |

Hi,
I'm not a Quickchange expert, but I would suggest to dress in a normal fabric white dress, since it will be your last costume you wear at the end of your act... Good luck, Oliver. |

Well that's is the problem, it's the largest dress and the last one. It'll be loaded until the end!

If you are certain you want to use white as your final dress you could try a few things. Think about what the costume before will be. Depending on that costume, you may not have to have a full length skirt on the white dress, and make the 'bulk' of the skirt portion of a more sheer material. Adding an additional 'skirt' to the final dress, a very thin 'veil' material will help and not take up too much extra load space.
Feel free to pm me if you like. |

The last dress before this white one has to be red (!).
You can try this by holding a piece of red (silk) material under your white dress. |

The dress before the final white can also be black. Of course you can be a little different and end with a other color than white.
Also, Please don't use confetti for the final change! Not only is it overdone you also need permission from sudarchikovi to use it. Unfortunately there are many copy cats using it without permission!!! So the challenge is to be creative and to come up with something that is unique to you instead of stealing someone elses hard work! |

Why have a red or black dress before the white one a fnish? And why use a white one as a finish at all? What's the theoriy behind white being the last dress?

I thought all this was explained in the books. There are 3 books on this subject that explains it all, by 3 different authors. Surely you should take their advice.

Which books are you refering to? I own the two written by Lex Schoppi and I haven't found an in depth discussion about which colors to chose for the dress in the end.

David and Dania, the famous quick change act, who started all this frenzy, they wrote a complete book on their methods. After several magicians pointed out that was not good idea to reveal all their secrets if they expect to continue performing. I believe they then removed the book from the consumer market.
There is also a DVD by Yasuda, called the Art of Costume Changing, part of the Greater Magic library by Steven's Magic. There are 3 books by Lex Schoppi, the 3rd is for men's clothing. |

Hi this is Lex Schoppi. White is always transparent / see-through. You can use several layers of fabric. Or the one previously costume is black instead of colored. So the white is just a little bit darker.
