Hello all!
I've just recently gotten into the magic scene. I'm a late bloomer at 38, but am loving it! I've spent a few bucks on copies of Magic for Dummies, The Complete idiots Guide to Magic Tricks/Street Magic, Joshua jay's, Magic: The Complete Course and Henning Nelms' Magic and Showmanship. Lots of great information there! At the moment I'm focusing mostly on coin and card tricks to get started. Hoping to learn much more in time and have a lot of fun with it!

Welcome SD Houston,
Keep a written record of your progress. It will help inspire you. Focus on one or two effects at a time and really learn to perform them rather than just do them. I've seen one Magician who started at 60 make remarkable progress just by using his (grown-up) skills at connecting with people. Kids generally have more time to practice but adults have advantages too. Good for you for getting into something out of your comfort zone. It's good for your brain and good fun. -Mary Mowder |

Thanks, Mary!
I've figured out quick that trying to learn more than one or two at a time is exhausting and futile lol! Thanks for the good advice and the inspiration. This is out of my comfort zone for sure, but that's how we become stronger, right? I can already feel that this is something I would love to turn into a bit of a profession down the road =)
