I have been saving for quite some time now for one of the next generation gaming consoles. After letting Microsoft and Sony duke it out initially, I decided to go with the PS4 because it's GPU was superior to that of Xbox One's GPU (CPU and GPU are two different things). GPU is important if you want your games to have good graphics and performance and as a gamer myself, I care first and foremost about playing fun games, then afterwards, graphics and performance. Let me just say that Sony has delievered an excellent gaming system and I am a very satisfied customer.
I can't always game when I want to because I have other responsibilities, but it's nice when I have a little bit of free time to go to the PS4 and play Infamous Second Son or Battlefield 4. Awesome system and I think much better than the Xbox one. Graphics are crisper than the Xbox One as well. PS4's new controllers are very nice. I hear that Microsoft is now trying to counter the PS4 by trying to offer it's gamers the ability to play Xbox 360 games...which is good, because then it encourages Sony to then offer it's gamers of the PS4 the ability to play PS3 games. Competition is a good thing. But the PS4 is great fun!

I may consider a PS3 if I can find the Ratchet and Clank games for it. (I'm assuming PS3 games won't play on the PS4, that seems to be the way of it these days.) I have the four PS2 R&C titles as well as a PSP title (Secret Agent Clank) that was ported over to the PS2. I'm looking for "Size Matters," but as I didn't really enjoy SAC that much, I think I'll focus on R&C games that are actually developed by Insomniac, who seem to understand the characters better than most.
And they're getting a movie, which hopefully won't suck! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2865120/?ref_=nv_sr_1 Trailer with Capt. Quark, Ratchet and Clank; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlqqGXH83qA

It seems a lot of the problems with online play with BF4 has been fixed on the Sony side of the house, but I hear their are still problems with it on the Xbox One. They have really done a good job with BF4 on at least the PS4 game, now that some of the online play problems have been fixed, though again, I hear not all the problems have been fixed on the Xbox One side of the house.

I'm not an online gamer. I tried Left 4 Dead online and just didn't enjoy it as much as I do playing alone.

I prefer to play online against others or on a team. Another cool game you can play online that is similar to BF4 on the 360 is Transformers. That's actually a pretty cool and fun game

PS3 will still be supported for 5 years to come. No they will not be able to play on PS4 but you will still see new games made.

Not likely, more likely very popular games will be ported to the PS4 the way the Rachet and Clank series was ported over to the PS3.
If Microsoft was going to make its XBox One backwards compatible, why wait until it was already out?

Hey Ed,
Check this out. I found this article on the PS4 and Xbox One: Quote:
Ubisoft is about to release the next entry in its motorcycle-platforming series on consoles and PC next week, and — like other multiplatform games — it has a slightly higher resolution on the PlayStation 4 than on the Xbox One. https://games.yahoo.com/news/ps4-xbox-on......816.html

I don't have an XBox One OR a PS4 at the moment. Nor is there any plan to get a new video game system any time soon.
$500 and $400 is just too much for me to get for a "gaming system." I have an Xbox 360 and a Playstation 2. Both of which I got used. As I said, I would lean more toward the Playstation because I like Ratchet and Clank and the Kingdom Hearts series.

Me, I saved up for the PS4 over a period of time to pay for it. I made it one out of several financial objectives to save towards. Gaming, like any hobby is expensive. But when you look at gaming from a PC versus gaming on a console, I think you get better value for your money with the PS4. Even with the next gen gaming consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One, console gaming and hardware is much cheaper than gaming from a PC, at least from a hardware perspective. I feel you get best value for your money as far as gaming wise with the PS4. However the most important aspect to gaming isn't graphics, but fun. If a game isn't fun, then nothing else matters. However, graphics are very nice to have, so long as the game is fun. So, I feel the best overall value out of the gaming whether it be on PC or consoles, would be the PS4. You get decent graphics with fun games on the PS4 at a relatively cheap cost when you look at gaming on the PCs or some of the earlier gaming consoles (which might not have the graphics factor of PS4). I think you would really enjoy Infamous Second Son on the PS4.

Frankly, my eye isn't good enough to sit there and say; "Look at THIS picture, it has 180 lines MORE than THAT picture!"

Digging up an old thread here. but I just got my PS4 and must say it's amazing. Didn't bother trading in the old xbox 360 as they were offering me 30.00 LOL....Guess electronics don't hold much value nowadays... Anyways, if anyone has the console hit me up and lets play...love meeting new people.

BTW Ed, seems they have an online streaming service available for the ps4 which allows you to stream hundreds of ps3 titles to your ps4. Haven't tried it yet as I just got the console on Friday.

Electronics absolutely do not hold value for a day much less years. They have entire stores dedicated to the resale of them and it is not much money selling them.
I still have my PS3 as I have been out of the country (My country the US.) since the release of the PS4. But I read where Sony would support the PS3 for another 5 years or so on major titles so that is a good thing. I like the PS3 a lot. Never really tried the XBOX so I have nothing to compare.
