Hey guys!
In addition to looking towards a career in magic + mentalism, I've recently purchased Quick & Effective Cold Readings to help start up a side business in the psychic entertainment world. I read as much as I could in three hours and went to a local bar. I saw two ladies that seemed a little bored so I figure this was the perfect time to go for it. I proceeded to give them both a palm reading and wow! They were amazed! They even told me that sometimes they get "psychic impressions" and were just thrilled! Times like this makes me even more motivated to this full-time! I just wanted to say thanks everyone! Thank you Magic Café! |

If you enjoy doing this you might as well want to grab Psychometry from A to Z.

If you want to read palms you should definitly get a copy of Ron Martin's "Palm reader's notebook"
And as for psychometry from A to Z, Jerome has an updated system (along with many other things) in his "Psychic directions" book.
Reader discretion is advised.

Having and using Webster's classic is a great starting point...followed by Ron Martin's "The Palm Reader's Notebook" as mentioned above (do yourself a favor and grab his "Tarot Reader's Notebook" while you're at it!), followed by Enrique's "Invisible Series" & Bev's work + a few of the more mainstream texts...this is one of my favorites and one that I can gladly and happily recommend (available as a Kindle book):

Flora produced several videos that are very good. Richard Webster’s Psychic Readings, he demonstrates multiple readings using various methods, there is the Pendulum video which contains his palm reading, and Ron Martin has a palm reading video there as well. Ron’s video mentioned a line on the hand that I had overlooked for years, and it breathed new life into my readings making them much more fun, especially when I do groups.
I found that it is good to see how others approach readings, especially when you are beginning. Tony |

Congratulations on TAKING ACTION, going out and DOING palm reading, especially after only three hours of study. Good for you!
Will never forget the first palm reading I gave a beautiful, young woman. After the brief reading, she look at me and said, 'You just totally blew my mind.' A wonderful resource I can recommend without hesitation is the 'Palm Reading Secrets' 2 DVD set: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S12129 |

For some reason, (and I have tried a lot of sources and ways and means) - I just can't get on with palmistry thus far... I dunno quite what it is...there's something about it that doesn't quite tickle my fancy the way other stuff does...

It may be heretical, but more than Richard Webster's book for magician's on palm reading (which is great)I REALLY love his book for the public called the complete book of palm reading.
"Palms Up" is absolutely wonderful as well, and perfect for the entertainer. Fincham is great, but while I really appreciate his renaming sometimes, I think it gets in the way other times, I like "The spellbinding power of palmistry." What got me started doing it was Voodini's book, everything else fell into place from that.

Oops, sorry. Yes that's exactly the one.
There are SO many great aspects (IMO) to this lay out. If you want to learn to do short 5-10 minute readings (or even longer if you know how to have a conversation) this is all you need. All the traits are unambiguous (ambiguous traits were very intimidating to me when I was starting) and you always know what to look for and say next, so there is a clear flow, no stumbling or guessing. If you want to go further, once you've learned Voodini's system you are set because as you can start playing around with more traits but have the confidence that you'll give a good reading even if you forget the meaning or can't tell if the new trait you are learning is applicable. The other reason that it's a great place to learn more ambiguous traits is that it gives you the confidence to go out and read dozens of palms. The more palms your see, the more you get used to variations and the more that you will understand some traits that might otherwise confuse you.
