Hello Tony,
Was nice to read your post! And...well, I know that now I am "performing one of the most famous magic acts in the world", that is why I must be really good because I think that all (well, maybe not all of them) magicians will be merciless with me. In a very short time, I will try to get in contact with places, all over the world, wherever my father was performing, so I hope to see you sooner or later in England! Best regards, Tom |

Ignore the negative magicians, it's jealousy lol. I'm jealous I'm not performing it, but your video on you tube was great, and the dancing cane is ... if I dare to say it maybe a bit better than your dads, a lot more steady. Really great. Good luck with it and your future with the act!

Only just seen this sorry. Yes well done sir, very good seeing that it was your first time performing it in public an all. Good luck and thanks.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Hello again dear friends,
I found maybe an answer for Whit Haydn who wrote: “Kissed his hand? I find the story very, very surprising! Sure doesn't sound like anything the Professor would do, or any American for that matter. That would be more of a European thing. Vernon was never very excitable or expressive like that. If it is true, it must have been quite something special.” When you will see what Dai said about my father, so maybe you will understand why it was possible. And don’t tell me that you have never seen somebody who "you know well”, having a surprising reaction (in your opinion)? On the other hand, maybe you don’t know him as well, as you think? Anyway, knowing my father, I can tell you that what happened between Dai and my father was for him “simply a genuine sign of respect that both of those magicians shared with each other” (as Igor wrote in his post). And please don’t forget one think: It was not my father who started this discussion on the Magic’s Café forum (hi, hi, hi). Magically… Tom – Salvano Jr Here is a direct link to see what Dai said: http://geniimagazine.com/wiki/index.php/Salvano Posted: Aug 31, 2009 8:19am ------------------------------ Hello again! Last week I received a few e-mails asking me where they can purchase the DVD of my father. Now for those who would like to order the DVD’s, I can give you a contact in USA where you can do it: Dirk Losander 9850 S. Maryland Pkwy Suite A5 #190 Las Vegas NV 89183 Ph: (702) 501 9973 Magically, Tom – Salvano Jr P.S. Nothing to do with DVD’s. Message for Steve_Mollett: Maybe we are not talking about the same person. My father’s name is Salvano. |

Your Dad was clearly a great magician. This is one of the most magical acts I've ever seen.

Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

Like father like son. Your dad would be proud. Kissing the hand is a beautiful tribute of the highest respect that dates back centuries. Dai Vernon was pure class and although I don't know if he did or didn't kiss the hand I would not be surprised if he did. He, like all of us appreciated a good magician. Remember something we sometimes forget, as we learn and grow in our knowledge of magic we will find we are less and less fooled by what we see. Now I can tell you I'm not even close to a Dai Vernon or Salvano but I have been around the block once or twice and know how a lot of effects are done. Yet I caught myself more than a few times while watching these videos simply floored as glass after glass after glass was produced. Yes I saw some but I missed a lot. The ones I saw were only because I knew what to look for. Yet the routine was fantastic and very smooth. My point is Dai Vernon was lets face it The Professor and not easily fooled. So when he had that chance, that opportunity to see magic again, not as a performer but as that child we all long to be, he could very well have been excited.
So did Dai Vernon kiss Salvanos hand? I don't know. But I'll tell you this if Dai Vernon ever kissed my hand or ever shook it---I'd never wash it again! Both men were class acts and a wonderful example of what pure magic can and should look like. Good magic to all, Eric |

It still does. It's the only thing in magic that does this, and will probably remain so. I am glad that your carrying on the act. D. |

Salvano was a true master. I remember the story that he used most of the time a green fluorescent TT and still fooled everyone.

Dear friends,
I was absent for a while, but you will understand the reason why, when you will go here: http://www.salvano-jr.com The reasons that push me to create this website (and as I create this website myself, It takes me “some time”) are various. Anyway, you can find on this website two chapters consecrated to my father and I am sure, you will find here some photos, which you have never seen. Best regards to all of you! Tom – Salvano Jr |

Salvano was one of the most 'magical' magicians that I have ever had the pleasure to witness.
I have been genuinely surprised by his lack of exposure to 'well versed' magicians in the US. His broad knowledge and finesse on everything from thumb-tips to rope makes me very humble and also motivates me to work harder and more diligently on my own material. Tom, thank you for making your Father's material more accessible to our community. Alan |

I'm not a HUGE fan of stage manipulations because quite frankly not much of it is very good or convincing.
However watching Salvano work convinced me that a manipulation act could look real and natural. Just for the record I do enjoy Kaps, Cardini and Lance Burton as well. Salvano is underated in my opinion. He is one of the greats. I thank you Tom for posting you're father's act when he appeared on Paul Daniels show as it was at that point that I was exposed to his greatness. Andre |

Salvano is unarguably doing a much better show, actually way above, than the ones we usually get offered by magicians doing stage magic. What it presents however if it is fluent and pleasant to the eye, still seems meaningless to me.
At the risk of shocking the vast amount of fans for this type of magic, I prefer the new slope of stage magic that we see emerging with the Soma Cellphones act and Kevin James sawing a man in two, which grew from Christian Fechner's or Shimada's act and more recently from Pop Haydn seeds and flowers. This new form of magic has been emerging also in Close Up with Eugene Burger and Robert Neale but it's only the beginning of this XXIst century new form of our art: magic is no longer illustrating a story. Magic shares its own real life story in this new wave. Salvano, with undeniable talent, appears to me as having reached the peak of a stage magic style which follows a bell curve that will go down after him. Conversely meaningful magic is going up and has already crossed over the XXth century style of magic and it offers more, IMHO, than a just revival of Maskelyne's and Devant's types of short scenes.
Magic is the art of emotionally sharing live impossible situations

I saw Salvano when I was leaving in Paris, and was just starting in magic, but he really had the smoother manipulation act I ever seen...and Tom you did a great job with his act. Bravo!
