Prayers continue.

Annie and I watched Home Run.

It's not just another baseball movie. It covers issues addressed on this thread as well as Celebrate Recovery.

It's nice to see Movies with a Christian Theme.

Praying for your son and your family!

It hurts so much now knowing that we were all with our backs towards Father and He was/it is always ready with His open arms to comfort us!
Stay strong brother and at the right time your son will open his heart to Him and the cleaning will began!

LOVE from Portugal

Thanks again everyone. And I keep forgetting to look for the movie, Harris! I want to see it and hope my son would watch it too. Anyways, as a little bit of an update... Things have gotten worse. He doesn't want "recovery", he has walked away from his treatment team at Kaiser and has been staying at a motel. His money and credit will run out soon and I don't think he will be employed much longer. The results of this and what happens next are horrible to ponder. My wife and I are taking turns encouraging each other and reminding ourselves that God has this and that he loves our son more than we do. If it's not too much to ask, please continue praying. I'm barely able to remain at work and concentration is next to impossible. I feel as if I am just waiting for a phone call from the police or hospital or something terrible. Thanks again and take care.

Continuing to pray Glen. There are few things in this life more painful than a loved one who is lost! Praying strength and confidence in The Lord for you & your wife. Praying that God use this mercifully to bring your son to the point that only God knows is needed to bring him repentance and faith. Hang in there!
WHAT IF you wake up tomorrow with ONLY the things that you THANK GOD for today?

Here's the latest and I apologize for not keeping this as updated as I could have. Here is a bit of a recap and where things are now. The motel arrangement ended in disaster and with him in emergency back on Wednesday the 18th. He was paying for the room himself as a step away from being homeless. After letting us know that he didn't really think he wanted to try to be clean anymore we had to show him the door. We took him to get a bicycle, which he paid for and dropped him off with a backpack full of clothes and things and said good night. We took his car keys away, God truly kept him alive and safe after driving as far away as some of the places he was going and as high as he was getting. The car is still in my name, so it was not disputed when we took the keys away.
So basically he went to the motel on Saturday the 14th of June. He came to the house on Wednesday the 18th and was obviously really out of it and a little while later, after being denied access to a sober living house, he began complaining of his legs and feet hurting. An hour or so later and he was in tears and could not walk. That's when we had him remove his socks and shoes and saw his ankles swollen and feet were very red. We practically carried him to the car and got him to emergency where he was seen with minimal wait time.
Let me just say that God was in this every step of the way and truly has been answering prayers and showing mercy to Michael. By the grace of God, through all of this he still was employed and had his Kaiser insurance. So without going into continued excruciating detail, he was admitted and remained in the hospital until Saturday morning the 21st. He had cellulitis in both feet and legs but nothing broken or fractured. He was malnourished and dehydrated (he told us that he was not eating while there at the motel) and they were also running tests for HIV. The infection responded quickly to the antibiotics but he remained pretty much out of it through his entire stay there and I pretty much lived at the hospital until his release. Preliminary results have indicated negative on the HIV, thank God.
So he went on a crazy binge at that place (he was taking something called zannybars, valium, smoking meth and heroin and drinking)and had a couple of suppliers living/squatting there with him and things got really ugly. Apparently they started ripping him off and would not leave and Michael got to the point where he got fed up and had pulled a knife on them and yelled for everyone to get out on Tuesday evening. I feel that he was spared in more ways than one by not going back there again.

Since his release his mother and I have had our hands full helping him continue to detox and go to some appointments and trying to get him to answer honestly if this is now enough and is he really "ready" to get clean etc. It's been very hard but in the midst of everything we began making efforts to contact the Dream Center in Los Angeles and actually faxed his application the Friday afternoon before his release from the hospital to them. He had indicated that he was prepared for the challenge of the one year program and also to go in and talk to HR at our company and quit his job while getting treatment for the duration of one year. He had filled out the lengthy application himself, with a little help from me and then it was a matter of being accepted. So, we got word yesterday that he had an in-take date of Tuesday next week and he went in to his work just this afternoon to talk to his immediate supervisor and HR. I told him how proud I was of him for being able to follow through with that and that it took a real man to step up and do that.
God really opened this door and also worked big time on Michaels heart and spirit. Just this last Sunday several things happened that were so encouraging and confirming. Michael was prayed for several times not only by the Pastor and associate pastor but also by some folks that we don't even know. The senior Pastor sat down with us and really challenged and confronted Michael, which led to a very heartfelt confession and acknowledgement of his desire to be clean and embrace his true identity as a child of God.
So now we are just spending the rest of the week with our drug free son and preparing for his one year journey. I know I have gone long here but I feel I left so much out too, some bad and so much good stuff too! Right now we are very thankful and hopeful and will all be getting a lot more familiar with the program at The Dream Center in Los Angeles. Thanks again all of you and God bless!

Hang in there, Glen. Sounds like God is up to something. Hopefully Michael is starting to understand the reality of his past decisions and is in enough pain to make some changes.

Well, in a few hours from now I will be taking my son up to The Dream Center of Los Angeles. Mixed emotions but so glad got accepted and that he really wants this. So much has happened the past couple of weeks regarding prayer, healing and rebuking of spirits of self hate, addiction, even death itself. We will miss him, despite visiting when we can, but I cannot express enough gratitude to the Lord for all of His protection during this dark time in his life. Even his employer was so gracious throughout all of this and they indicated that they appreciated his work and would be glad to have him back when and if he was ready to return.

Also thanks again everyone who has been praying or prayed or even just took a little time to read any of this.

Glen

P.S.- A little info, if anyone interested, on Dream Center
