I'm looking into getting started learning to make my own soft-foam/cloth ventriloquist puppets and was wondering if anyone can point out any good books or videos on this. I browsed through the threads and if there were any on this subject I missed it. Thanks!

Look for the instructional videos of Verna Finley, one of the best soft puppet makers ever.

After much searching, I've been unable to locate any copies of Finley's instructional videos. Apparently these are now quite difficult to come by. Even ebay has none up at this time. The only thing I've been able to find so far is a few decent-looking videos on youtube. The old video by Barbara Dewey seems to be my best option right now, and I love her work.

For Verna's video you can also try to ask at puptcrit http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit

A number of years ago it was possible to purchase a copy of her video from one of the members of this list. I don't know if it is still possible, but you can try..

And If you will have any questions or concerns while making your puppet, don't hesitate to post a question.I will be glad to help you.

Contact Tom Ladshaw at gogproductions.com, he had Verna DVD either last year or the year before at the convention.
