The Rough & Ready Shell molds were made from a real black walnut shell, from the inside and out. No added putty inside of the shell. This brings a natural look and more head space for the pea to roll freely. The outside rough texture of the black walnut shell is one of the best type shells for easy handling. Any area of the shell brings a sure easy grip for better control of the shells.

The size of the black walnut shell is 1-3/8" diameter round. This round type shell brings many features being used with the new 21th century bottom ridge design.
The bottom ridge on the bottom of shell is just like what is on a real black walnut, but is shaped to keep the pea inside the shell when moved in all directions.

This ridge is NOT a gimmick! The bottom ridge is just the opposite of being a gimmick, as it makes it a fair shell to appear as a fair game. This means you can bring the confidence for the player to think they have a chance to win. Everything can be fully examined at any time, if need be without switching anything out. They are the only shells that actually have a secret in the stealing of the pea. You are never forced to take the pea. You have full control when you steal or load a pea. The shells have no clues, rules and nothing to hide.

I ordered and received the Rough & Ready black walnut set.
Here are my thoughts on these shells.

The quality is top notch, like all of the shells that Al makes at 3shell.com.

You won't even think it is made of resin. They look very real. Even the inside is all natural looking.

These shells have the bottom ridge design. I think this is perfect for the black walnut shell.
As a real black walnut has a thick large ridge.
So to me it looks even more natural than any of the other black walnut shells being made without a ridge and brings more features

The color is great. The texture of the shell makes them one of the best shells for handling.

Not only do the shells handle well, the KD peas that come with them are the best.

The accessories that come with this set; plastic shot glass, barrel pea holder and a solid shell with a “P” letter engraved and painted green.
The added accessories brings many good features

I think this set you really get your money's worth.

I highly recommend this set.

I can attest to everything benhart states above! These shells are my new favorites, and I have 2 dozen sets!

They remind me of the Smokey Mountain Shagbark Shells, but they have the amazing added feature/innovation brought to the shell-game world by Al! But, these are now available, versus the Shagbarks... They are long and far done being made it seems.

I can't get enough of them - Nice color contrast with a red close up-pad & green-pea on the dark shell! Nice shape for handling one hand especially.

(PS: If anyone has a set of Roscoes SMSS you might want to sell... Contact me via PM & I will make a serious offer!)

I think that link in Als' first post is his teaser site where he previews the goodies he is currently working on for the future -

Try: http://www.3shells.com/walnut--peanut-shells.html or just 3shells.com then under Walnut & Peanut Shells Tab
