Hello all, I have just purchased the Ripped and Restored video by Yves Doumergue.. I am at work right now, so I cant watch it yet, any tips or recommendations by anyone out there that has purchased this video? Any difficult or obscure areas of the trick that I should be for-warned about? just curious, cant wait to get home!!!!

The effect is not that hard to learn in a day or two. I think the hardest part is understanding him and thank God they put it on DVD so you could easily go over a few times without having to rewind.
Good luck. This is a pretty cool effect that you can use without having a duplicate card. Dave |

The only bad thing about this routine is that you end a little dirty. No big deal really.
I have done it maybe 50 times to people and it is a stunner. This is the one I use when someone has just found out that I am a magician, and they ask me to do something. If I am at their house, and they have a deck, I will do this with a borrowed deck (using a mercury), it really smokes them. If I am simply out, I usually have a deck of cards either in my pocket or in my car. This one is a killer! Also very cool with your business cards!

Hey JBmagic, what is a 'mercury' as you say in your post?

I am not sure how much I am allowed to say here....
I use a mercury fold, in the course of another routine, to get "set up". There is some good stuff on the mercury fold in Expert Card Technique, and in the Books of Wonder.

Ah I see, thanx JBmagic!
With this effect, can it be done with ANY card, i.e. business card, baseball cards, trading cards? Cheers, Logan

Yes, you can do it with any of those, but some advance setup will be required.

Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

is the card completely restored, or is there a rip in the center top?

Jakks,
The card is completely restored. See here for the on-line clip, it really is a great effect, almost on par with 'Reformation' but more do-able. http://www.hanklee.net/hankievision/index.html Groovy |

I didn't use a R+R much until I stumbled across this one. This is as practical as JC Wagner's, but much stronger in my opinion.
I use this all the time now. |

I recently purchased the video and loved it!!! I was able to do it on the first try. I'll play with it a bit more, but it is definately in my arsenal now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this routine is slowly becoming the favorite version of its kind to many magicians, including myself. IMO, it blows away all other versions. It is more visual and easier to do. You can't go wrong. But try not to emphasize it too much guys, I don't want EVERYBODY performing this.

Ditto, Cardguy. Everyone keep out. Stick to other tricks. Leave it alone. Buy more Tenyo!!!

Absolutely. Ignore the positive review I posted elsewhere. I was delusional with fever when I wrote that. You'll be horribly disappointed with it, so don't waste your money. Stick with the classics like the bra trick.

Ecno, yes it can be signed.
The final corner restore has part of the signature as well... it's a beautiful thing.
