Thank you:
- Whit Haydn
- Chef Anton
- Al Lamfers
- Bob Sheets

Casino Nights are popular events for charities to raise funds here in Montreal. I often get calls to do close-up magic at these events. However, close-up magic in these settings is not something I particularly enjoy doing and frankly I don't think I'm that good at it. But there is money to be made so I wanted to come up with something that I could offer.

I have always loved the shell game and the lovable con man type of personality. After years of performing I knew my "on stage" personality and presentation was strong enough to try this. So over the past six months or so I prepared. There were tools out there which have been very valuable. The School for Scoundrels DVDs on the shell game and Fast & Loose were priceless and the Magic Café posts by Pop Haydn and Al Lamfers were filled with good advice and things to reflect upon. Al was even kind enough to exchange several e-mails with me on different types of shells and peas.

Thanks to the people named above who shared there knowledge I was able to develop a great act for Casino Nights. Last evening I performed for two hours doing the shell game, Fast & Loose and Gambler's Beads. There were always people around my table and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Today I received a very complimentary e-mail from the organizers. Smile

So, thank you to those who share from those of us who benefit! Smile

Thank you, Mike

It is always a pleasure working with someone like you that takes such pride in what they do.
It is good to hear that everything is working well for you. I am not surprised!

I see you have the shell bell on the table in your picture. How is that working out for you?

I absolutely love the bell. I place it on the shell instead of shot glass. Since these are Charity Casinos I try to let the player win the last bet. When they win they get to RING the BELL! It adds to the performance and draws attention to my table.

That is a good way to use it. You're bringing more fun and attention at the same time! I think letting them win at the end can be good in most cases.
It sounds like you have a well thought out routine.
