You missed the love part there, landmark. That's what drives the sweating in a way that it's worthwhile, and spiritually energizes instead of fatigues. And that's what leads to the where, when, and how.

We're all human- we all get physically tired, so there's a distinction to be made, I think. The spirit is energized when the effort is driven by love. More Elvis here- his passion can be seen plainly in this- check out 0:40- he LOVES the music and it LIVES in him:
He won the Grammy Lifetime achievement award in 1971. He was 36 years old. He also won his Jaycee Award that year- some say that was the award he treasured most, because it came from his peers. |

When Sam Cooke was 36, he had been dead for three years.

I was surprised how much I liked Elvis's version. Really great.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I have several versions of this in my collection and my two favorites have always been The Righteous Brothers and Sam Cooke. This thread prompted me to dig around for other versions. Found a couple I really like, see what you think.

In the EH version I really liked the flowing lyrical quality in the first verses, and I liked him hitting the high note at the end. Risky, but it worked. The middle was a little too tricksy for me.
I like the quality and timber of JT's voice, and I like how much he trusts the song to do the work and carry him through the emotion. Very very good. The end was a little bit too show-off-y for my taste, but that's the fashion nowadays--you are expected to show off everything you have in 3 minutes in the American Idol world. Fortunately, he is able to do it without straining so it worked for me. I'd put that up there with the best I've heard.

I just listened to the Al Hibbler version. Much different than a lot of the modern ones with all the vocal gymnastics. But like Landmark said in the original post, regardless of the version, that is one hell of a great song.
