Thankyou, Bob. I'm not that keen on the remixes just because I feel they could confuse the audience and also they're tampering with the record. Now, they've done a lot of remastering to High Definition and I really can't fault anyone for improving audio and visual quality as technology improves, after all if these things were originally recorded now they'd be done that way, so As long as the originals remain to keep the record as it stood during Elvis' lifetime and we can keep those, I think I'm ok with new spins being explored, generally, though.
Here's a recording of Rubberneckin with audio from a concert, video is from other footage: This song seems to have been recorded in a key less commonly performed by Elvis- he sounds different- maybe he had a cold or something, what do I know? The song was used in the movie "Change of Habit" in which Elvis played a doctor. Mary Tyler Moore was costar. This version is interesting, too, in that he STOPPED the song and started over- I think he was trying to do that right out of the gate, there, but they didn't LISTEN. |

Big favourite! here, mentioned earlier, love this arrangement, love the strings in most of the 70s stuff, and some others, too, as in Only the Strong Survive back there , they seem often to stand out to me:
"Take my... take my hand." (LOVE that! a gentleman! , I don't care what others say about him.) |

Y'all LIKE these, I know it.
We were talkin' genius awhile back, do you recall? I think it was there I mentioned the music LIVED in Elvis. You really can see the integral connections in his performances, there's no mistaking it, like the music went through him on a two-way street. Or, as Elvis says next, "Bridge" : http://youtu.be/0gtezPgF3wc?t=5m9s Check 8:20 |

Wow, I just found the article linked to below. Maybe I'm a little more in tune than I thought I might be, afterall.

Here's one I keep forgetting about, but then when I hear it again, I think it's quite excellent. Definitely underplayed, this one- there's so much good material and radio just doesn't play it unless, I guess, you've got an Elvis radio station. So much good music out there, so little time to hear it. This one's worth listening to and then , listening again, and then, listening again...
Here's a performance video of the song I saw earlier today, which reminded and inspired me to post it here as a favourite: Film/Video's a fantastic medium, indeed. |

I see our "Only The Strong Survive" has been removed from youTube- I can remedy that, temporarily, at least. The strings! :

I posted this on Facebook last night: Folks who give Elvis a bad rap and speak of his "decline" aren't listening with their ears or seeing with their eyes, I say. Fantastic spirit. (HEART)
The dialogue went something like this: The Scary Librarian: I'll second that! (with a HEART) Laurie: I love the "hey hey heyeyey" (SP ) at the end. Maybe it's because I haven't seen this clip before- not regularly at least- but it seems very current. I find it so cool to hear him pick out bits and interpret in a way I would choose to- so universal and he knew his material inside out- it's so nice to find common ground with Elvis Presley, indeed! (HEART) Laurie, again : The above's another confirmation for pitching the notion of linear time out the window, I suppose. (in reference to the "current" nature of the "hey hey heyeyey (SP ) |

Love the "How ya like it so far?" ! Much fun. Enlightening, this footage. As I've mentioned before, we see the truth about Elvis in this late footage, why people love Elvis. Elvis is REAL. Absolutely inspiring to me. LOVE. |
