Hey everybody
I like the jumbo-coin ending to a coin flurry very much, but I don't have a jumbo coin on me at all times, and sometimes I'll finish a routine with the coin changing to my cellphone and I'll say something along the lines of "Coins are great because you can do magic with them and connect with other people... just like a cellphone", or sometimes I will produce my wallet and say that this is advanced stuff and I should probably stop here. Anyway, what are some of your ideas for a one coin routine finale using objects you can find on the spot? |

Daniel, you might watch here as an Underground Master is put upon to produce some amazing closeup magic on the spot at a party…Oh, and he happens to also be a 1st Class coin guy as well.
Start at the :55 mark…

Oh yeah, this video has been an inspiration to me for years. an impromptu, on the spot, routine that has the impact of a full cups and balls routine.
This is without a doubt one of the greatest on the spot performances I've seen. I used to produce my cellphone at the end of a lot of coin or cigarette routines, but now I own one of those fancy "smart phones" and I can't palm it. |

Daniel,
I actually produce the phone as well. Except it's their phone. Much like the drink steal, I find a LOT of people leave their phones in front of them. I reach over to produce the coin from someone's arm and steal the phone. I simply do a spellbound type change from the coin to the phone. Happens chest high and to the side and a simple wipe is all it takes. Nobody sees it coming. I also use my own phone but I keep the camera turned on to "video" mode. As I steal it and do the reveal, the genuine reaction is being filmed . You can also do this with a small camera such as a GoPro. This was an original idea of mine to use at the Orlando Magic games and of course it would be the "Magicam".

I used to just do a spellbound change to another normal coin at the end if I had nothing on me. You could say this isn't much of a climax since full spellbound routines exist, but since they feel the coin at the start and the hands are shown incredibly empty, I find this works well. Especially with a change over palm just before so spectators have no idea where it comes from.
I would do it from a 50p to £2, thus quadrupling the worth. I guess this is problematic in the US though. Could grab a handful of quarters from the pocket and change one to many? Or change to a credit card. |

The cell can be amusing if during the act it keeps ringing as if you are getting calls - which you answer the normal way. (there's a timer app) Later on when it rings it simply appears in your hands.
similarly if you carry your coins in a coin purse you can finish by producing the purse in your hand and then get the coin openly from your pocket (or if you can load a spec - their pocket) have fun
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Observe your environment.
Any object you can grab becomes eligible. The more personal, the better. Use their drivers licence, their eye glasses, a name badge or table card. Their watch (watch steal) etc. This is good, general advice |

Bending the coin in their hand and handing it as a souvenir... recently I've begun ending my one coin routine by using Alan Rorrison's Smoke gimmick to vanish the coin with smoke, gets great recations

How do you vanish the coin in smoke? do you "eat" the coin? Btw, welcome to the Café emagician

I like to do a FT to the other hand while *using* the gimmick, pulling up my sleeves and putting the gimmick away, squeezing the hand and getting it closer to my mouth as I blow into the closed fist.. Thanks, I've actually registered back in 2010 but didn't comment on anything haha |

Well I wouldn't really want to bend a silver dollar, and definitely not hand it to some stranger at a bar and let him keep it haha.
What I've been doing for some time was finish my act with a production of a pack of cigarettes, while saying "naturally, after seeing all this, you're gonna want a cigarette". but recently I've quit smoking and I don't carry cigarettes on me anymore, so right now it's still the cell phone. |

Hmm first thought after reading the cigarette ending.
Coin routine ending with pack of cigarettes, which morph to Deck of cards with tag line about quitting If course routine could be coins changing to a deck of cards or Signed chosen card from an earlier routine.
