I'm going to take my oldest rabbit to the vet tomorrow. She has quit eating and drinking.

I'll keep you posted as to what the vet says, in case anyone else with rabbits has the same problem in the future.

My rabbit is now 6 and a half years old.

Well obviously, I didn't act quick enough, because she passed away last night.

She did not quit eating entirely until Saturday, though starting last Wednesday, her eating slowed down. I just thought it was because the weather had gotten warmer then what it has been.

So my advice to rabbit owners is if you notice any changes in their eating rabbits get them to the vet ASAP.

She will be missed because, she was extremely sweet. Even though my other 2 rabbits are good, they are nothing like my Lop.

Sorry to hear your rabbit passed away, Wizardpa. You are right: each rabbit has its own personality. I will try to heed your advice should I see a sudden change with my rabbit.

Thanks Chris. I'm not sure what my bunny died from since she passed away before I made it to the vet.

I do plan on buying another mini lop sometime in the future. At 6 and a half pounds she was the perfect size for my stage shows. Larger then my other 2 bunnies.

Chris, I know you have a large bunny. What breed is your bunny, and what is the bunnies temperment?

English Angora,,, sweet as can be, but must be combed a lot to keep from balling up or matting.. but well worth it. Lion heads look almost the same... more hair around the head and face but smaller breed if looking for the same style but smaller. When we travel and are doing shows... families get to pet, which helps us in the combing process. more petting equals less combing. the hair sheds that easily! then we show the folks how to roll hands together and it rolls the hair off your hands and prepares it for the weaving stage of angora sweater.

Very sad about your loss. I am sorry. However I don' think there was much you could have done. With rabbits and especially doves the symptons tend to reveal a problem that has been there for a while. Their size and metabolism tends to speed thing up from our own human timetable, so by the time you see a noticable result, the cause has been there for quite a while. That's not to say you were not right to try to get here to the vet, just don't beat yourself up about it. You are obviously a very caring and responsible owner.

Thanks Rick-What made it even harder is that she was so sweet. My other 2 rabbits are sweet, but not as much as my Mini Lop Sparkles.
