Hi knowledgeable people!
I'm hoping someone can do me a favor...I'd like to ask some questions about the block thru glass effect. If anyone here is experienced with this effect and in particular if you have used more than one model, could you please PM me? I'm aware of the workings of the trick so I will not be asking for those details but more about the quality and variations in different models. The reason I'm asking for a pm rather than discussing it here is that I would need to skirt close to the method and that's probably best not to be done in the open forum. Many thanks in advance Porter |

Hello Tony
Without discussing method and/or construction other than to say the quality is superb, my recommendation is the Thayer/Owen Double Block Penetration. This is available in two sizes. A solid block is made to penetrate a solid piece of glass into the lowermost of two beautifully decorated square tubes. The follow-up is this same block, with no additional handling, is made to again penetrate the solid glass plate and fall into a top hat or other receptacle. This block is removed from the hat and immediately given out for examination (IF that's your style) and the hat is otherwise empty. Of course, the square tubes are shown empty throughout the routine, too. The mechanism is automatic, not requiring the performer to execute any sneaky handling of the block from outside the tubes. Highly Recommended! Julie P.S.> Homer Hudson made a version like this, too, but these haven't been available for decades. |

I used to do this using a kid's head (turned sideways) instead of the glass.
