I am seriously thinking about buying the ultimate dancing hank and animation sensation. Is it worth the price? Will I get the most bang for my buck? Please help. Thanks.

You will, if:
You have the charisma and have a knack for what I loosely call "The Dance"...it's a way of moving (and I've failed miserably using the Zombie), and it can make or break the "independant"-appearing action the thing takes on...it has to look like IT'S alive, not you making it do what it does... Also, are you seriously going to put it into an act, where you can recover your investment? Otherwise, it will end up in a drawer or box. The ads are VERY tempting, and it's one I'd be tempted to buy just to play with...but it deserves MUCH more. The Don Wayne version (or Hank Lee's) might be better to start with, and decide if a "Dancing Hank" routine is "you". If you find the answers are "YES", then Sean's animated hank routines are a VERY big "bang for the buck", as they are KNOWN reputation-makers! If you look at the videos on his site, you'll see what I mean about his "moving" with the prop. He literally dances with it, and it OBEYS him, and even "plays" with HIM! That's what you have to ask: "Is that me? My STYLE"? I highly recommend that entire series, as an act like that is rare today. The price is such, that it won't be found at a mall kiosk! A good example of what I term "exclusivity"... Just my $.02, Doug |

Get the whole set including the Impossible Hank. It comes out cheaper that way. I have the Ultimate Hank and Animation Sensation. I'm still saving to get the Impossible Hank to complete my act.
Yes, it's worth it as long as you perform in a stage or platform setting. Kids and adults like it.

I went to that site after posting this, and laughed and laughed...he's GREAT! That is a perfect example of someone who is comfortable with their props...
You can tell he has put untold amounts of practice into this routine...it's one I doubt I could master...I'd pull a neck muscle ! A person who can take on this type of persona...man, this'll be a reputation maker! A SURE best-buy! Doug |

The Don Wayne model is not fool proof. (Yes Doug, I was the test magician for Fool Proof Magic Research.) But it gets by even with me. And yes, after twenty years, I replaced mine. There are better made props. (There are times when you will look at it there already on stage and move on to your next effect. And say "I am just not that brave tonight.") Karl Schultz has promised me that he can build me a more reliable one that will have more moves and be all metal. I expect he will, but it's not ready yet. I'm going to sit and wait.

How much would a mylar backdrop cost (fabric only). Enought fabric to have backdrop same size as Sean uses in video clip?
Thanks P.S- Could anyone give me a few sites that sells this fabric? With the ultimate dancing hank (The one with the foulard) can the move where the silk goes into your pocket be done with a simple dress shirt? (The ones with a breast pocket" Or do you have to have on a tux?) -Thanks |

You don't need a mylar backdrop for Sean's Ultimate dancing hank.
I wouldn't have the audience more than 10 feet closer to me though. The prop is very well made and he also supplies some extra supplies with the new version. It can be done with a simple dress shirt. You do not need a tuxedo. You can do the water bottle sequence without any assistants. The unit is self contained and with proper handling experience you too can make it look just as good as Sean's. I use it as a bull fighter sequence during the beginning of my act. I highly recommend this product!~r2 |

Dougini remarks are well founded. It is a good prop but it must be a good fit for you to be a miracle.
It is definitely a stage effect just to allow people to properly view it . If they are too close, they cannot properly view it. The gimmick is not the problem but the viewing of the routine is. It does not need a mylar curtin but it does need something so the hank does not get lost in the background. I'm sorry I guess I don't have enough movement in my background. I am more of the old style Blackstone hank.

Please, it not does mention needing a mylar curtain. If you do a full routine like Sean did ultimately in which te hanky flies and into the bottle, you need to be aware of lighting and backdrop. Watch it the instruction again. Sean also did it with mylar, and listen to what he said. Yes, you don't need mylar, but you must control lighting, we had tested it before for distance and angle, indoors, and outdoors.
What I can say if you are serious about Stage Magic, the full set is your selection. We asked many layman about most of stage magic. They didn't care how expensive they were. How much did th magicians like it? Almost 99% like it, 1% stunned, nothing to be said, HAHA! Animated seldom seen in our magic art, I mean normal stage show compare to others. My highest recommendations for the serious in the magic art! |
