Hi guys,
Been out of the Magic Café loop for a while =) and did several searches here and via Google, but to no avail - who remembers what ball size the Penguin/MM cups will allow for a 3-ball nest? I want to get a kid a set of the MM cups, and Mike Rogers balls, and forget if I need the 7/8" or 1". Thanks! |

Unless the stars are aligned, I cannot get a 3-ball nest of 1" balls to stay on the top of the Penguin Paul-Fox set of mine consistently, without at least 1 ball falling. (& these are some RNT2&Sherwood balls). Also with a 1" set - the volume physics of it, it also has a difficult time seating perfectly 360° around on the beads, due to lack of depth to width ratio when trying to get 3 x 1" balls into a less than ~ 1.6" wide top area.
That said, they stack flawlessly with the 7/8th" mini-Rogers baseballs set of mine... I think you're looking for the smaller set to match this version/set of cups, unless anyone can clear that up further (maybe the sight edge irregularity of the Rogers baseball shape allows for the 3-nest to not roll off as often using the larger 1"-set..?) |

Awesome, that's exactly the info I was looking for! Wanted to place an order for a few sets, one for the young'un, and one for me with a few spares.
Which metal of the Faux-Fox do you have? |

I measured with my calipers on a Penguin Copper set - But I have handled the Brass/Chromed MM versions, & recall them being nearly identical, with maybe the exception of some very minute width variances.. But not enough to allow a jump up from 7/8" to 1"!
& I agree Walid, 3/4" are definitely the ideal size for these cups, but I can say with the 7/8" Rogers balls, they work great and 3-nest saddle fine 99% of the time (with 0 riding / catching), so you can get away with the slightly larger ball size for better visual (Plus, they just don't happen to make the mini-baseballs that small... Which would be nice though!) Glad to see a newly revised Michael Ammar site! |

So I bought some 7/8" Rogers balls - but strangely enough, the old Rogers balls I have (bought in 2004 or 2005), are slightly bigger. Does anyone know if the ball quality/sizes have changed over the years?
I'm about to order a set of the 1" balls too. |
