Hello all, my name is Mark Correia,
I wanted to let you in on a stunt I am planning: Escaping Parkinson's This July 7th to the 21st I am going to be setting the record for longest amount of time in a straitjacket. I am doing this to raise money for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research (My personal hero). I will go about my daily life in the jacket and film video blogs to document my time, while taking donations from the public (100 dollar donations get your name written on the jacket). At the end of the stunt I will escape, and hopefully those suffering will be one step closer to escaping Parkinson's. I have support from Michael J. Fox, Wayne Houchin, Lee Asher, Aaron Fisher, Shawn Farquhar and more. Please take a look at the video and help anyway you can! Especially advice on living in a straitjacket, donations, and ideas! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFS197Eod9g I'd love to keep this forum open for discussion on Escaping Parkinson's Thank you -Mark Correia |

So I was just on the WC and it got me thinking! That's quite impressive as I don't think!
Will you have a crotch strap? Are you allowed to 'escape' for number 2s? Or are you going to have a volunteer to pull the strap sideways for you? I'm sorry to bring it up but I want to make sure you have thought it through! Dave |

On a more serious note....
and don't get me wrong, I hope you succeed and raise a lot of money for the cause. Do look into the psysiological effects of long term straitjacket wear on the elbow and shoulder joint. Make sure in advance to talk to your doctor and make sure you know what might go wrong. As I said, I hope it works for you! Break a chain!

Let's see.
People wear casts for six weeks. Fourteen days will be more difficult mentally. You just need to figure out how to eat and the other. Those are actually legitimate concerns. Astronauts and submariners have to learn deal with those issues in a professional manor, so should you. Next- get Fox to autograph the jacket and it can be auctioned at the end. No one will care much about any other signature but their own. Then you need to sign it to authenticate and date it. Take the idea to Fox. It should help generate a few more dollars. Naturally, your tie in is that you are doing this to demonstrate what it's like to be trapped in your own body without being able to have control but you are lucky enough that you can return to your self when it'd over. Then, make a cage that people can stand in. People donate X amount of dollars for every minute the person stays confined. If you can get Mr. Fox to also volunteer, that will make a great photo Op. You'll need a public location for this but that just serves to generateote publicity. Truthfully, watching someone do nothing while being restrained sounds boring but adding other elements will make the event better.

Some great ideas Jay.
I can't see 2 weeks of being in a SJ causing any issues......unless you have a tight fitting one and have no wiggle room...... |

I had a customer who mumbled, that bought a strait jacket to wear on a daily basis.
He mumbled that he wore it every night while watching TV because... it reminded him of the old days.
