Does anyone know what is happening concerning FISM 2015 in Italy. It is impossible to get any information from them with emails going unanswered and a website that tells you nothing. I assume it is still on but the main website has nothing apart from the cost. I would like to know what deals there are concerning a price on the convention hotel, booking details - where do you book for FISM etc but there is nothing?.
With 12 months to go surely something should be in place. When it was in Blackpool a few years ago they were really on the ball right from the outset but for Italy - nothing. Stuart.

Hello
The FISM Italy website is here = http://www.fismitaly2015.com/ Any questions can be directed to Customerservice@fismitaly2015.com I have found them to be very responsive. Walter Rolfo and his team have been working exceptionally hard behind the scenes and from what I understand a new website is soon to be launched with all the final details regarding hotel accommodation et al. Bear with them whilst they launch their new site. There's much exitement surrounding FISM Italy 2015 and the promise of restoring the professional sheen that the World Championships of Magic so richly deserves. |

Mitchmagi, I know what their website is as I have indicated above it is still under construction though, very strange as there is only 12 months to go.
For previous Fism conventions things have been ready a long way beforehand giving conventioneers the chance to save a bit by booking ahead but currently they have nothing, no website, no info, no booking form and it all doesn't strike me as being ready at all and certainly not a professional look for FISM.. You say that the professional sheen has gone, by whom ? I have been to FISM for many years now and it has always been top notch until now for reasons I have put above. Despite numerous emails to them I only got 1 reply which said: Hello I am Giulia Zurro, FISM Italy 2015 Staff you can register with me by e-mail just send me your credit card details. To me that is totally un-professional, no indication of hotels that I asked for, and certainly not the way that I or anyone else should do business sending credit card details via email and not even knowing what the are getting. FISM The world championships of magic deserves better. Stuart.

For pure information, organisation and giving people the details to be able to book for a FISM then Italy certainly comes bottom. I would prefer this topic though is kept on track to inform people of updated info so that they are able to attend FISM and not let some personal ego hijack the thread to say which FISM is better than another etc. Stuart.

FISM Italy is now working on updating the entire website with all the information. It will be a great convention! Walter Rolfo is a great guy, with an excellent team, and it will definitely be worth going to.
Who cares if FISM Blackpool had a fully-functioning website up long in advance if the convention was complete crap and virtually everyone thought so. That's not ego talking, just a plain fact. Now if you'll be patient, there will be a fully functioning website for FISM Italy very soon. |

Registrations for FISM Italy, held in the seaside town of Rimini next summer from July 6 to 11, are now available on the FISM website:
http://www.fismitaly2015.com/ I suggest you Google "Rimini, Italy" and see how beautiful the location is: https://www.google.com/search?q=rimini+ ... 80&bih=899 And Wikipedia tells you plenty: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rimini And your best friend is Trip Advisor, with almost 90,000 reviews for Rimini: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g187 ... tions.html |

That's just ego talking, Richard. How can Rimini possibly compare with the joy and wonder of Blackpool FISM?
And as far as I'm concerned, those Italian cooks will have to shape up their cuisine to rival the glory of the Blackpool FISM banquet. |

Ignoring those that like to post inane comments and hijack posts for their own means I would like to put this topic back on course again.
I tried again with what is meant to be Italy's official FISM website but still to no avail. If anyone is reading this from FISM hopefully you will react in some way positively as you don't answer any of my emails to you. Just to let you know that I have had about 20 emails or private messages from magicians all over the world with similar comments to mine and asking if I had "got anywhere" as they too were not being able to register for FISM or find any info about hotels etc. Some have quite literally given up on it and will not be attending. However, I have had one email and enclose the info of it below for your information: The main Rimini airport will not be open as I understand it during convention time as it is not open all year. To get to Rimini, Italy: Nearest International Airport is Bologna Airport. those from Europe will probably use the Eurostar. so this part will not apply. Bologna Airport ---shuttle bus---> Bologna Central station-------1.5 hr train-----> RIMINI Book hotels near beach along street called VIA TRIPOLI . This road continues and becomes VIA Della Ferra where Pala Congressi is located. (where FISM activities are held) Re: Bologna Airport to Rimini (note prices not confirmed) From Bologna Airport there is an Aerobus that departs outside the terminal (every 20 mins or so), and takes you to Bologna Central station. It costs about 5 Euro.?? Once at the station, there are trains departing for Rimini approximately every half hour. A regional train will cost about 7.80 Euro ??(one way) and take approximately 1.5 hrs. A Eurostar train will be more expensive, but will take only about an hour Google "Rimini hotels via tripoli" to get links, reviews etc. hotels vary in $ /£ & facilities. Analysing the Maps there are 10 hotels along VIA TRIPOLI which hopefully is walkable to the convention. (if not there should be a shuttle bus) Some hotels seem well equipped with internet( & look biz like) Research incomplete. most have breakfast included. There also seems to be a "tourist" tax. 1.hotel Azzurra 2. Rosablanca 3. Hotel Jolie 4. Hotel Rimini Luxor 5. Erbavoglio Hotel 6. Q hotel 7. Villa Luigia 8. Residence Hotel Queen 9. Hotel Due Torri 10. Hotel President and many other hotels near beach. The only accomodation really close to the convention is one very small B&B motel. no aircon. Hotels Rimini near Beach 4 star Hotels in Rimini - Luxor Hotel click link - http://www.riminiluxor.com/en/ so far this hotel has a special discount for FISM (only shows when you enter the dates) . Fancy hotel & fancy prices.Internet all over this hotel... so no need to huddle in the lobby for internet. also free buffet breakfast for FISM . My very grateful thanks to Mabel - mother of Shin Lim for the above information. Shame no-one from FISM itself seems as determined to help out magicians that it is left to a magician's mother to give the info. Thank you, Stuart. good thing you can cancel with no charge if you do it early enough.

Erm. Lots of Europeans will fly direct to Rimini Airport, (which makes it an International Airport). But congrats on the detailed information regarding Bologna, which is a beautiful city and well worth a visit.

The funny thing is, Rimini is really easy to get to, if you have the will. It's a popular tourist destination.
Too crowded for my taste, but dead easy, really. And very nice if you like that sort of thing. |

Why are the Registration fees for Fism so ridiculously expensive????
It is not as if oh well its expensive but you get real value for money Ask any one who went to Blackpool if they thought they got good value |

When you consider how many performers are involved with FISM, it's not hard to understand the fee.

Really!!!
well sometimes less is more and quality over quantity every time i frequent many conventions in U.K and U.S.A and I totally disagree motown The previous two Magic Lives and the Sam/IBM joint had more than enough top quality performers to satisfy The registration price for those were very reasonable |

It is only fair and right that if something positive comes along, and is of interest to a lot of people, that I should address the balance and so here goes with some latest news.
The following I have received today from FISM: FISMITALY2O15 will be held in Rimini, the Italian capital of fun and holidays. The Venue is secured and is incredible. Find out more about it by clicking here: http://www.fismitaly2015.com/palacongressi We've partnered with one of the best Italian tour operators to sort out your hotel booking, transfers and tours before, during and after FISM to make sure this FISM is not just a great magic event but also an amazing holiday. Full details of this will be announced in September. Stuart.

Looks as if the most straightforward way for US visitors to get there would be to fly to Brussels or Luxembourg and then on to Rimini via Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium from BRU or Luxair from LUX?
