I am in need of a good source for a dump box that folds up and looks great. If any one knows of a source I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Try collapsable laudry hampers. They can be decorated to meet your needs and fold down flat.

Here is the one that I use http://www.laflinmagicstore.com/product-p/mpdudb.htm It is very well built to hold up with constant use AND it looks good/magical.

This is nice and classy, I have 3 of them. Great to use instead of a top hot. Can be customized with Velcro for gimmicks and holders. Very versatile prop.
http://www.laflinmagicstore.com/product-p/mpdudb.htm If you want something larger, Mike Des has a good idea, go to upscale places like Bed, Bath, and Beyond and find a hamper on wheels. Then make a bag that fits your needs for it. Any seamstress can fix up a nice bag to work with framework. They just don't sell props like this, as it is hard enough to sell a magician a magic table. They just don't want to spend money on table or drop bags holders. Also, Viking makes several customer holders for their "Pro Table" (suitcase table). Some can be fixed with clips and hooks to work with other tables and chairs. The long bag can receive a large bottle and more. http://www.vikingmagic.com/Pro%20Table%2......me=table Not crafty, then you will have to settle on what is available. |

Hey Red...
I do not use a dump box, bag, or whatever. EVERY PROP comes out of the prop caee, works, and goes back into the prop box in its own little "pigeon hole". Only a few props need reset--and the reset is minimal. My reset time for the props in my 45=60 minute program is four minutes--and that includes putting the prop case on a waiter's cross leg tray stand. LESS THAN FOUR MINUTES,IF I HURRY. This didn't "happen" all by itself. It requires planning! --and strict "compliance" with my criteria. I'm certainly not a genius! --But, I'v never been "AT LIBERTY"! YOU can do this, too. (PLANNING!)

Dick,
I've been using the "pigeon holes" for many years, without a dump box, for the kid shows. It really helps to cut reset time, along with some thought about how to keep reset under 5 minutes. I really made the reset fast, when I had two back-to-back shows on the same stage. Sometimes, I'm thankful for tough conditions, because it makes things easier for future shows. |

A bit off topic, but I have used the lefler small suitcase table for years. The bottom serves as my "dump box" One unit..all inclusive. Love it

I had a Merv Taylor type suitcase table custom built years ago. It looked really classy, but the ##%% table weighed more than the props. I went back to my "itinerant mountebanc" prop case and a waiters cross legs.
Right, Alan! About 40+ years ago, Neil Foster brought Tom Mullica along and visited when I was playing a Junior High in Coldwater. Tom noticed my "pigeon holes". He went back to Colon, sawed up a sheet of 1/4" plywood, and made "pigeon holes". !!!!! When he finished, he couldn't pick up the suitcase! Neil, said, "Dick used cardboard boxes!" Tom learned a good lesson!

I'm with Dick, when I'm using a case or table, everything goes back in its spot immediately...
As time goes on, I've moved more to working completely from pockets/body, regardless of the venue. The only thing I may leave behind is a bit of confetti; everything else resets or goes right back where it came from.

Right Ekuth! I would like to have carried the school show in my pockets! But, with the wide range of ages in my audiences, it was necessary to have some flash to help maintain interest.
Confetti! yes! The old Boy Scout rule: "Leave only footprints, take only pictures"! >>>DAVID FRENCH! When you've been "around" for awhile, you'll learn how to "pigeon hole the props". --Especially when you have two bookings "back to back"! I knew Lefler. Frankly, his tables look very nice, but to a trouper, weight is always a factor. Lefler's suitcase table(s) are HEAVY.--And, when filled with props--they're IMHO hernia makers.

Agree about the weight of a suitcase table. They have a lot of great features but the weight is a real deterrent for me. Stairs and suitcase tables just don't mix. I would rather make a second trip to the car.

Amen to that.
When I use a table, I use the one I built- it's a modified Harbin style with detachable top; magnetically attached. Folds flat, nice and stable, goes right into a canvas carry cover I sewed for it... probably only weighs about 5 or 6 pounds. ... sounded like a Dos Equis ad for a second there.
