Hi everyone! I'm from Europe so please forgive my spelling errors. I do not use English in my daily basis.

It is hard to say when I really got interested about magic. I believe I'm quite typical story. When I was a kid I loved magic, I watched every magic show what was on television. I also loved to know how tricks were done and I believe that was the start for me. Some box full of cheap tricks and small manual.
Magic just happens to pop up in my life time at time in different shapes.

Life went by, my point of interest changed time at time and I kept studying different things. After these years I have been studying many different things. With some of things I can say I'm good. With some of other things, I'm not so good.
I studied magic with small objects, Silk magic, coin magic, card magic... Mainly close up magic in intimate settings. I studied pick pocketing, large scale of scams from frauds to religious scams to cheating in casino games. I also studied hypnosis, mentalism, shamanism, witchcraft, folk healing, palmistry, tarot reading, fortune telling among many other things... After all this is country with strongly shamanistic background. I get pretty neat ideas from there. And oh yeah I'm still studying, you are never finish or know enough!

So it is really hard to say how long I have been involved in magic. Some of them are part of my every day life. Some other things I practice only time at time.
Magic isn't for me way to earn money and I do not want to make it as my job. Magic is for me time to spend good time and make people around me happy as well! I believe this is natural approach here because we are only small country and it is hard to make living with magic. I never have been heard that someone perform street magic here... or even magic in bars or restaurants! So I mostly practice and keep myself entertained and time at time if somethings happens to pop up in discussions with my friends, Then there is my moments to shine.

I have been lurker in couple of magic forums for years, but for some reason I didn't registered in any of them. I believe mainly because my English is poor and I have hard time to make my point clear. I understand English very well, but producing understandable text is hard subject.
But today I felt like it would be nice to have account at least here.

Thank you for sharing your story Forgotten One. I could understand you perfectly and I love the fact that you take studying subjects that interest you as seriously as you do.

I could also tell magic means a lot to you. I'm glad you decided to join. It's only my second day here, but I'm really loving it. I hope you do too!

Welcome The Forgotten One,

Nice introduction (and I read a lot of them so I should know).

Most of the members here are amateurs so don't worry about that or your English, you're doing fine.

I'll probably see you in "Table Hoppers and Party Strollers".

I worry a lot of my English, because it take some serious time to write posts and if people cannot understand them, it drive me crazy. I have also hard time to find correct words to make my points clear. But I do my best! Smile

I believe you guys start to see my posts in many sections here. As long as I manage to make them in my slowly space.

Welcome The Forgotten One!

Your English is good enough. Thanks for joining. Magic is a wonderful way to bring people together. My first introduction to magic was when I was around 8 yrs old, from a friend of the family. Every time he came to the house, he would show the kids a new magic trick or some sort of stunt (also known as "bar bets"). He used magic simply to entertain and connect with people. I spoke to him a few months ago. Since then, he has become a billionaire. Magic really helped him not only to connect with people, but also to think outside the box. He had an idea that he was trying to convince his company to do. They didn't want to do it, so he started a company. The company was later sold for over a billion dollars. Since then, he has sold several other companies. He is a smart guy, but magic helped him be even more innovative.

I hope you enjoy your magic and your studies.

Greetings Forgotten One!
Wilkommen,Birnvenu,Welcome (select one!)

You speak (and write) English (i.e. "American" English) better than many of the members here. I read your post, and only "caught" a few "typos" and one or two
"misplaced" prepositions. and one or two minor verbal tense errors. Some of your "expressions" are foreign to us who were born in the U.S. But, you are certainly understandable! --And, that's a bit more than I can say for some of our "Yankee" magicians.

What country in Europe, do you call "home"?

You seem to have a good understanding of magic. You are quite right! (WHEN YOU ARE THROUGH LEARNING--YOU ARE THROUGH~) Of course, that statement is true for life in general!

The other concept that you should realize (and, from your comments,I think you already do) is: MAGIC IS NOT INHERENTLY ENTERTAINING!

So! Pull up a computer, and make yourself "at home"!

Hi everyone!

I'm from Finland. Our language have pretty much same basic structure than yours (English), but it still is totally different game. I have hard time to find correct words to express myself, specially when I want to share something more in details, or talk more deeply and I have to think a lot what different words means for you, and what all they can mean for me (in my own language.)
When I use dictionary, it is frustrating translate one single English word and get something like 5 Finnish word back. (Of course this things also can happen vice versa.)
Yeah also culture make difference how we express ourselves. Different culture and expressions is richness in my eyes, but I try my best to choose correct words and make minimal mistakes.

What comes to "MAGIC IS NOT INHERENTLY ENTERTAINING!" This is one of the places where language barricade step in. I understand this very well and there is A LOT of things what I would like to talk and share, but I don't find correct words in English. There just is too high risk for misunderstandings. So I leave this discussion here (for now) and continue it in better place if there will be a chance somewhere in future.

Thank you all for your positive comments!
