Hi!
I am totally blown away of his performance of this gem of a trick and was wondering if it is a marketed effect? And if not, does anyone know where I can buy the props? And if still not, are there any available trick similar? PS: Not looking for the secret here, only thorough description of the routine and the needed props. |

Its a normal cup, so as such, the props are available anywhere. The cup looks like a small Boston shaker cup or simillar.
You could try contacting Mr Kamm from here (contact link on the page): http://jonathankamm.wix.com/kammagicshop He must know that many will copy his YouTube stuff, but it would be good to speak to him first... Apart from that, one (ungimmicked) cup ideas: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=115 http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=115 All the best Charlie |

He is a very nice man. Contact him. While he may not give you his routine he may help you to develop your own.

Thank you both! I will not steal his routine of course.
Let me explain what I like and then you might be able to point me to a something similar. I love the "impossible" final loads. Creating my own buildup is something I would do anyways, but two large finals with similar class (eight ball and metal ball) is so elegant and stylish.. |

You should be able to figure out how he does the routine just by watching his performance. It's a very basic routine but it works well. I personally prefer using a Chop Cup but as long as you get those final loads in there, people pretty much forget all the stuff that happens in the beginning of the routine anyways because they are so blown away from the final loads. |

Pretty sure it's Scotty Yorks routine he performs.
The cups look like boston cocktail shakers. You should be able to pick them up from ebay for $5 or so |

I spoke to him about the routine before. I was wondering if he uses a ball bearing or what. The large steel ball is a contact juggling sphere. You can get one here:
http://www.neonhusky.com/JShop/section.p......cd22c47a You need to convert the mm to inches to make sure it will fit in your cup if you'd like one of these for a load.

Al Schneider has a 3 ball 1 cup routine, also. You can find it here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=115 in the Ever So Sleightly section. Pretty much the same routine. Both of them are outstanding.

I hope it's OK if I take this conversation in a slightly different direction. Since this is the Table Hoppers and Party Strollers forum, what is everyone's thoughts on performing chop cup table hopping in a restaurant? You have to use the table, although not much of it. Depending on what else is on the table, some things may need to be moved around. I know this is frowned upon by some.

Steve- I do a one cup routine at a restaurant. I even use a small Table Hopper mat from Pattrick's Mats. I have no problem using the cup routine or the mat. People are very welcoming toward it all if you are kind and polite. I personally believe the mat adds a nice touch of professionalism. Not everyone will agree, but this setup works well for me in this environment.
Another thing I like about having a small mat is when you ask to place it on the table it provides an opportunity for people to move anything that may be in someone's way visually. It also gives you a small "stage" on which to perform and provides a focal area. If you present the idea of the mat professionally it helps you to "own" that part of the table and can help to set the tone for audience management. Since most people around my parts have never experienced a live closeup magician they don't have any preconceived ideas and are willing to comply and see it all as part of the experience. Just my ¢.02 worth.

Thanks Danny, Theodore and Adam for your input. That is all great information. I haven't done a lot of magic in restaurants, but I have done a lot of balloons in restaurants. At some point I'd like to start doing restaurant magic as well. I'm finding out that what is in the literature and what real world performers do don't always match!
