I took a look at Richard Osterlind's website recently. He re-did it, and it looks very nice, but one thing about the site really puzzles me--he advertises his services on the site as a performer, and then he has a link to his mentalism products for performers--but the product section does not need a password to enter!!
Now I know everything can be found on the Internet with a little effort, but it doesn't make sense to me to be a performer who advertises a blindfold routine to a client, and then with one click the client can find the gimmicked blindfold for sale. I don't want to tell anyone how to run his or her business, but I wonder if Richard is aware of this? I'm posting this because I know Richard reads these threads--not that he has to justify anything. I just thought there was a possibility that he was not aware of all the details of his website design. Jack Shalom

Richard is primarily a corporate entertainer--and therefore, most of those hiring for corporate and college entertainment are fully aware of what mentalists are and that we use illusion--and have no interest other than to book him for their event.
Why hide the other information--they already know about it--and are not interested in the effects per se. However, he's meeting the demands of those in the magical arts that are interested. Brandon |

Thanks for your interest in the sites and the password issue. Jim and I discussed doing that and decided against it. If you do a google or yahoo search on my name, you will see literally thousands of sites come up advertising my products. My corporate clients really aren't concerned about the books I write or the products I put out. They are concerned about ENTERTAINMENT. More than anything this means WHO a performer is not WHAT he does. It is your personality, your appearance, how effective you are and how you present yourself rather than what you claim to do. Besides, I haven't put EVERYTHING I do out on the market!
