Hi Roger,
you mentioned to me that you were one of the Bar guys in the group of Bill Malone, Doc Eason, Bob Sheets. Who were the others and how did you meet each other? Did you influence each other behind the bar?

I met Roger in the early 1980's when he was the magic bartender at Thurstons. My name is Rick. I was a Marlophile, got into a lot of Marlo material, sessioned with the Gallos most Saturdays. Performing and hanging out at Thurstons as well as the Forks were Bill Okal, Allan Hayden, Harry Carroll, Vic Trabucco, Mike Gallo and others. I was too anxious and inhibited to try performing. Roger used to eat fire sometimes behind the bar. I used to drink pretty heavily back then.
I bought some gaffed cards from Roger at his shop and I still may have a Steve Dusheck videotape belonging to him somewhere. A guy named Bill owned the place with his wife. They were a pleasant couple from San Francisco. I may be misremembering this but I think Bill performed at the Magic Cellar before he came to Buffalo. Roger was always friendly to me. I was strictly an amateur. But I was a regular there. Good times. |

Everyone here is waiting for your comments. Don't worry about me. I think everyone here realizes your guest appearance was mistimed with a huge convention coming up! You and Steve should just reschedule and include all the topics that have already been broached. Take care brother!

In a Café first I have EXTENDED Roger's GUEST OF HONOR to go thru the 13th of July. That technically makes Roger our guest for June & July. Ain't I a sweetie?
