That should be fun, all living on top of each over. How are you getting on now with the Soylent Green City plan, have been shrunk yet?

I don't get your references....no one will be living on top of each other...theres very few people there now. It won't be any more dense than any city. And 'All living on top of each other'...the article says there'll be plenty of greens, woodlands, parks. It sounds nice to me, like the beautiful American cities 100 years ago.
It also seems like an Elegant Solution to the problem. And why does that plan crank yer knickers so much?

Notice the creeping newspeak in the article
"... concentrating the dwindling population and local services ... ...needing to shrink substantially to cope with their declining fortunes... ...The radical experiment is the brainchild of Dan Kildee, treasurer of Genesee County, which includes Flint. Having outlined his strategy to Barack Obama during the election campaign, Mr Kildee has now been approached by the US government and a group of charities who want him to apply what he has learnt to the rest of the country..." or in other words mister burns wants to save money on maintaining the electric power lines

...and sewers, and streets… Wait a minute, what's Barney supposed to do with his plow?

But what's the alternative? Let the cities rot just because somebody made a proposal to Obama that might fix them? The present conditions are unsustainable.
Are there better solutions out there? What are they?

They’re going to be shrinking all the cities and piling all the people into the middle. You are going to be living in half room. You will be demanding they do something about overpopulation. “Mr Kildee has now been approached by the US government and a group of charities” Charities eh, that will be the Rockefeller boys and his charitable Soylent Green Foundations. “Mr Kildee said he will concentrate on 50 cities, identified in a recent study by the Brookings Institution.” The Brookings Institution eh?
