I want to know if there is a wand that has many uses and one of the uses is to shoot flames out the end. Also are there any gloves or items that could make flames come out my palms?

Also I have a neat patter and everything planned out for my act and I need flame training like flame eating and flame repelling where can I get it.

I use Dave Powell's Omega Fire for fire from Palms, and that is what you see in the Avatar (picture of me...) here.

I like this one due to a number of design and construction issues that would tip the secret if I told them here. But PM me for a "what to look for" on fire effects.

The basic effect can be done using a number of gimmicks by a variety of names. But the key description is fire from palms"

Good luck, and remember .... even if it is just a trick - it IS REAL FIRE! Be careful.

Hi BroDavid,

Where can you find Dave Powell's Omega Fire?

It looks like a nice effect?

Is it repeatable or do you have to reset everytime?

Thanks!

I got mine from Illusions and More, a great magic shop owned by Buck Bresler in Cleveland, Ohio. Buck was closing it out, because he doesn't get many fire guys. They retail at around $70.00 and I am not sure they are still being produced.

They are similar in concept to Fickle Fire which retails at about $30.00 but Omega Fire is made with much higher quality components.

And yes, they are absolutely, immediately repeatable without setup. But like most fire effects, (except torches) you really can't sustain a flame for a long time. But frankly you really don't need to Smile

I will PM you some of the specifics. But fire magic, like any magic is individual. I have a friend who uses fickle fire and sees no problem with it. But I gave mine away when I got Omega Fire, and couldn't be happier with it.

I think there was a discussion on Fickle fire on the good, bad and the ugly forum. You might find some other info there.

Omega Fire is also at Hank Lee's and Hocus-Pocus.

I saw a product that was similar in effect, but used a battery to somehow allow you to ignite the units without striking anything with your thumb. I've momentarily forgotten what these are called ... I once experienced an issue with people hearing the flint sound, so I'm wondering if these are all they're cracked up to be?

Bekralik,

I would be interested to hear of the electronic ones too.

I don't have a noise problem with mine, the striking and flame happen so simultaneously and the flame is so big, that the flint strike is lost to the spectator - even if they heard it.

But I like to have whatever fire effect is available so I would be interested. Most of the units that I see that use a battery also require flash cotton to jumpstart the flame. And to me, that is not an improvement.

But if you recall the name of it, or where to find it, please let me know!.

Thanks

That's a very good point, I had not considered. However, I did manage to find it again. It's called 'Fire Palms' at Hank Lee's:

"Ever since Kikuchi first produced his amazing Fickle Fire, magicians have been looking for new and different ways to produce fire from their hands.

Rick Haslett's Fire Palms brings the classic effect into the 21st Century!

Fire Palms is far and away the finest version of Fickle Fire we have ever seen!

First of all, they are totally electronic. No flint wheels. No sore thumbs. Each unit uses a tiny rechargeable battery to ignite the flame.

The units are very small. They are actually smaller than the original Fickle Fire.

Despite their small size, the flame produced is really large!

And, the flame can be turned on and off at will. Really easy to use. You get two Fire Palm units, the rechargeable batteries, a battery charger, a full instructional video and Rick's famous guarantee on the electronics. This is an amazing prop. One you will use all the time. Available exclusively from Hank Lee's Magic Factory, and nowhere else."

Retails for $145.00. I also found another interesting fire item on there that piqued my curiosity, called Alpha's Floating Flame, also at Hank Lee's. Sounds a bit like a Zombie routine, though, requiring a black background, etc... although I'm not sure.

Great! That is the info I needed to take a look at it.

Another Great fire item (not fire from palms as this thread started, but a terrific effect) is the Ultimate Cane from Peter Loughran you can check it out at http://www.masterofillusions.ca/ULT-CANE.htm

It is a flaming dancing, vanishing cane! and CHEAP. Only about $40 with Fantasio Vanishing cane that I see all over at $28, or $20 without the cane. Either way, a great deal for a great effect.

Try Wonder Wand by Chuck Leach of chazpro. It's a bit of a gimmick, though.

A word on fire eating (I saw it asked about earlier in the post). It's dangerous. Very dangerous. I'm currently working on the whole fire eating/blowing and you have to learn it well before you go head over heels. No doubt, it's cool, but it becomes serious fire play. Do A LOT of research on fuels and if you decide you really want to get into it PM me for a few tips on fuels and torches.

Very true ... I ordered a set direct and saved money. They are great. Its a no brainer if you need a Fickle Fire effect this is the only one you should buy.

There's two wands that I know of that shoot fire balls, both are available from Hank lee's for $70.00 (I think). They are:

Prometheus wand - Great wand for fire work, completely electronic ignition, very nicely made, with brass tips, thin, and looks great, fire magic is the only use for this wand.

Wonder wand - You need to buy this wand for $70.00, and the fire kit separately (an additional $20.00-$30.00 (sorry, I'm not sure of the exact price)). This wand is short, 7", you can buy an additional piece that lengthens it to a foot for $15.00 (if you're doing stage work). It is nicely made, but with white tips (not brass like prometheus). The main advantage to this wand is that it has more uses than just fire magic, you can vanish coins, silks, make them appear, etc. It is an all-round great wand.

It all depends on what you'll be doing with your wand, if purely fire magic, get the prometheus, if not, get the wonder wand, your choice Smile

I just wanted to tell about another item that Rick Haslett impressed me with; I sent him a torch that a major illusion builder supplied with my latest new illusion. I wanted the torch to have a one handed self-ignition system. He had to over come a few problems to make the firing system handle the way I needed.

Well Rick costumed his pyro palm system onto to torch and its really sweet. I would say he is the one to look at, or talk to, for 2001 technology with fire effects.

Here is his site
