Building a Séance Night
I received the above-mentioned book a few days ago. At first I was not too sure about it but as I started getting into it I realised that for those whom are interested in performing a Séance this book is a gold mine of information.
The book is written in a very direct manner. There are no “Flowers” and un necessary lines/chapters. Freddie goes directly into it and gives the reader all one must need in order to conduct a Séance. From Building the show, the things you need and even a Ghost Walk to start the show is in that short and to the point book. There is even a short chapter about what to do after the event.
One can tell that Freddie Valentine is a Master of his craft and as a result this book is a book fit for the working professional.
Thank you Freddie for inviting us into your world and sharing your knowledge with us.

BUILDING A SEANCE SHOW - REVIEW

Freddie Valentine has just published a very welcome add-on to his Occult Magic series. Here are my thoughts.

*****The rationale: style and approach*****
‘Building a Séance show’ is a how-to manual for they who want to offer a very peculiar kind of mystery entertainment: the Séance. In a very intriguing manner, Freddie –whose field experience is well known- proposes a very interesting way of presenting **ungaffed** and *psychologically-based**evenings/nights of contact with the Spirits and the paranormal Forces which surround us.

*****Structure and content*****
Freddie lists some ten points for the show. In fact, there are four phases, which are covered in great detail. These are: opening phase (pre-talk and starting); ESP tests (involving the audience); Ouija and Dark Séance; and the debriefing phase (with discussion and booklets selling).

As a consummate entertainer, Freddie begins with and insists on: **planning**A show is not a chat among friends at the local pub, and for many reasons the professional must have an order in mind about what, when and how something will happen –and most of all **why**.

The book explains in detail how to structure a show of this kind (making due reference to other works by Freddie and Paul Voodini for the technicalities). In the first part, two lists of paraphernalia are suggested: one for a basic show; the second for a more elaborate séance.
The keyword of the whole book could be **INVOLVE!**. In fact, to entertain one should beforehand have the audience involved in him; and then in the situation. Freddie offers very sound advice on that, as well as about the choice of the venue, and the promotion of the event.
The last, interesting part of the book talks about the use of the Ouija board, and about readings.

*****Pros and cons of the book*****
This book is not for conjurors. It is for **magicians**. Props, but no gimmicks. Theatrical skills, not self-working tricks. And let it be known that it takes b@//s to work in this way.
But this is not necessarily a book only for pros. If a skilled amateur wants to entertain –by scaring the hell out of them- a group of friends, this is a very well written guide about what to do and not to do.
To the pro, this book is a mine of good advice. Great one, Freddie.

I looked all over and I can't find how to PM him or join that group. I think I found Freddie Valentine on FB and I sent a message there, maybe that will work.

I am very interested in this book.

Thanks for the kind words chaps! Much appreciated.
Often people are aware or the components but not how to put this kind of show together into a program that has a structure, there haven't been many writings on this,
So I thought a breakdown of my show would be useful for people who wish to move into this area.
The information is quite adaptable as you can provide a longer or shorter show.
Just drop me a pm or email if you want more info.

I have just finished reading this. This is exactly what Danyel's review above says. No BS, no filler. There are useful tips, but the catch cry of this book is "structure". You won't find routines or lots of new methods, just a very practical guide to structuring an evening of paranormal entertainment.

Thank you sir. I like to keep my books in a very "straight talking" manner, free from waffle and padding and everything in them has been regularly performed for paying audiences. There are no pipe dreams or untested material as I think there's too much of that in this world so I concentrate on delivering hard won experience.
I'm delighted people are appreciating these books,
