Just redid the quiz after reconsidering a couple of answers (E.G. I pronounce caramel two different ways). I came out as Seattle-Tacoma-somewhere, which makes a bit more geographical sense for a guy who grew up in Calgary.
It does make me suspect that the test is a bit too sensitive.

I believe the test was specifically designed for determining location by dialect in the United States.

Indeed it was, Bob. That adds interest for neighbours. How are we similar and how are we different? Its good fun to be a (nearby) outsider.

I guess they could have identified Canadians simply by asking how you pronounce "about."

Or asked respondents to identify this:

I remember many MANY years ago a school newspaper had a similar test where they showed objects and asked readers to identify them. I can't remember all of them, but one was what I would consider a "frying pan," and that name did top the list, but there was also "skillet" and "spider."

I was in the States last Christmas, and everyone in my family too the quiz, and it was surprisingly accurate. I think it would be even more so if it would include more pronunciation. It guessed me as coming from the south--undoubtedly due to my Texan parents--but I do not have a southern accent whatsoever.
