Hi I have bought an expanded 10p shell, from a company that are recently new to the U.K.They are called metalmagic London.I have no connection with them and I am simply reviewing what I bought.I wanted a smaller coin ie 10p to do an effect in the spectators hand, from the worlds greatest magic expanded shell dvd.I normaly prefer 2 pound coins when producing or vanishing in my hands etc.
I was surprised that I could not get hold of a Tango 10p expanded shell. So after a search took me to an Ebay shop, where I saw metalmagic London, not only doing a 10p expanded shell but a whole host of gimmicked coins. Some I haven't seen before ie coins with lazer cut/punched playing card suits and value on coins etc.I took the plunge and ordered a 10p expanded shell. It arrived within two days. The quality was as good as a tango coin.It nests nicely and falls out when you need it to.There are no distortions to the face of the coin. The edges look how they should. They must have milled this then stretched the edge.It is done very neatly and no dinks around the edge. The only thing is a very slight bevel. You can only see this when inspecting it up close.I mean very up close.I love it,Fantastic price with free delivery.Nice bloke to deal with too.See this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10P-EXPANDED-S......3e827961 |

I got a split coin and a folding coin from them - good quality and good price - I'd highly recommend too

Yep I think they will make you anything.I asked about flippers and he says coming soon.I managed to get my 10p e.. shell at the ridiculously low introduction price of 9.99 free postage.Wish id bought more.Still they've only gone up 3 quid so still a bargain.

I bought a 10p shell and £1 split coin from them, both good quality. The only thing I would say is the shell seems to 'talk' rather a lot. I am relatively new to coin gaffs; is this common to all shells and if so do you find it causes problems in performance?

I would love to get a 50p shell but I'm not sure if it's possible. Marcelo?

Hmmm. I do think 50p coins are the best size (and color) of the UK coins but would the shape make a shell difficult in working? I would think so but equally haven't tried it; if you have success Sean, please do let us know!

The shape would definitely present some challenges in handling. It wouldn't nest as easily as the sides would need to be aligned but I imagine it would still be very useable. I'm not sure if one could be made using the current methods though.
