Zack Danger Brown starts a KickStarter campaign to raise $10.00 so he can make potato salad. Ok, a little weird but probably a joke.
To date he has raised over $59,000. He still has three weeks to go. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/324283889/potato-salad Viable ideas can't get funded and this joke explodes. SMH.

This is one of the funniest things I've seen on the net lately.
Excellent. And he's inviting the whole internet to come to the party! |

Hmmm, won't making that much potato salad for a bunch of strangers be something like selling lemonade on the street corner? Anyone taking bets on when the local government or fed will step in and shut down this guy?

Since it's obviously a joke, I don't think we'll see any interference.

Oh- so you think he wasn't joking when he said "the entire Internet" is invited to attend in person? (Or when he pointed out that the only con was that he's never made potato salad before?)

Depends on what do you mean by a joke. If you mean that he meant it to be funny, then sure it's a joke. If you mean that you don't believe he is going to follow through with his promises, I think that you are probably wrong.

"Hey guys! I just landed in Columbus (about an hour ago) and I'm hard at work planning the potato salad party, building local consensus around what to do with the excess profits and answering press inquiries. I am so blown away by all of your support!
I don't remember if I've said this yet (so it might be an internet exclusive) but I am working with our AMAZING local independent radio station CD 102.5 to put together something like a benefit concert for the party! We could call it Potato Stock (pun certainly intended). What do you think? This is your project and I want to hear from you. Add me on Twitter (ztbrown) and we can start talking. Your statement of "Since it's obviously a joke, I don't think we'll see any interference." implied that you didn't believe he would actually do any of things promised, like make the potato salad to which question you are somewhat un-artfully sidestepping. Are you sure you're not a politician?

Can't resist picking a fight over a joke, can you rockwall? Your first response upon reading the article was to turn the topic to governmental regulations you don't approve of, rather than understanding or even getting the humor in the situation.
I did, however, answer the question, when I pointed out the impossibility of making potato salad for the entire Internet. |

When I throw a party, I rarely expect everyone I invite to show up. That's not my fault.
While he has invited everyone on the internet to the party, that's not one of his pledged promises so you're still avoiding the question. Here, let me make it simple for you. (I'm not sure why I need to do this but you always seem intent on avoiding simple questions.) 1. By joke, do you mean that he doesn't intend on a. making the potato salad and b. fulfilling the pledge promises? |

Actually, as it turns out, he's serious about inviting the entire internet. He's going to live-stream it.

I go out and come back to this ^^^^^^ Really guys?
The whole thing has become so ridiculous and complicated. As I write this he's responsible for- Saying the name of 5,187 A bite of potato salad for 2,671 people. And... Way too much for me to take the time to figure out. Further complicating the situation is the talk of a charity being involved and the radio station being involved with a possible concert As far as inviting "the whole internet" to the party, he could only be expected to have as the capacity of whatever venue he settles on. He will undoubtedly recieve many offers from people to volunteer their services seeing it's for charity and for a chance for the publicity that will come from being involved. Like I said, ridiculous and complicated, It will be interesting to see how it all works out.

I agree with you NYCTwister. That's why I've stopped responding to the silly arguments. But I've got to believe the guy was only joking around when he put the idea on Kickstarter and was just as surprised as everyone else at the response he got.

It seems like a lot of people have their flamethrowers ready just to see what type of fires they can start. It's the reason why one of my 2014 goals was to think ten times before hitting the submit button. As far as Kickstarter is concerned the people who run the site might want to re-think the terms of service and the agreements, to prevent this type of thing. Maybe a $200 minimum or something. It really is a good site which provides people with the opportunity to obtain the funds they need to get their ideas going. Not to mention providing a kind of "sounding board" to see what people think of their ideas before they invest their resources too heavily. In the long run I think Zack Danger may get a practical lesson of the saying "be careful what you wish for" because he sure got it.
