I gotta say I like the original brash mesh. Plus, it will hold up better than glass for "trooping" around.
So Roth, is this a beautiful cabinet or is it "more?"

It is a Book Butler for those fine lovely musty and strange works of delicious darkness we so joyfully share with those who wish to peek into our nightmares ever so briefly.

I might prefer the heavy brass mesh......
These books have power... They need to be kept dormant... .. Love the "Build A Bear" options. A drawer will be great for Gyre. I just need a secure slot to carry my switch witch along. (Been using both with Dopps). Funny how something we didn't know existed before this morning... is something we can't live without this evening. Well played Roth... well played..... |

This is the nicest book butler I've ever seen! Actually, I think it's the only book butler I've ever seen!
Why does it have drawers? |

It's a great idea but frankly it should be an exquisite antique in perfect condition. Outlaw props are old and ratty, not a bad thing, but for these books the case should be like new. Is it possible to get it in pristine condition?

Cherry wood may be a little prettier if that's what yer looking for. This one is Dark Walnut. Are you pranking me? You really want a brand new looking case? We can make one look new for ya. Same look, just brand new. No nuances of age or subtle aging, clean. |

For myself, an aged, old & a little ratty looking book butler helps the illusion of preserving the more prestine looking "old" books inside.......besides a book butler would get banged around in its travels as intended to protect the books within.
If it was intended as a non mobile item of book storage, then I would expect it to look much more pristine. As always, preferrence is each to his or her own taste with props & items in they're display & collections Whatever your choice Rick will meet your needs with this & this book butler rocks !! |

I have a pristine 1840's French china hutch so I understand that everything old is not nescasarly "beat up". Nothing wrong with that, some old things are in poor condition and others not. Just asking if a more pristine option is available. Also, is there a possibility for some werks? |

RCP we can make it look like the craftsman just made it in 1898 and sold it to you
First one sold today was the open brass mesh in Dark Walnut Book Butler |

RCP, great point, and I'm guessing it totally depends on one's character and presentation.
A newer, and finely cared for "Book Butler" would make perfect sense if one were a collector of fine books, and interested in preserving her or his artifacts even while traveling. However, I'm guessing this scenario would still need justification...a true book collector would carry her or his artifacts in acid-free boxes, perhaps individually wrapped in acid-free bags. For me, - who is eying the original version of this cabinet - I see myself carrying my collection of books in what I would consider a naively "safe storage container for some very old and mysterious books," hoping that I can convince my audience into believing that I am ignorant regarding the books' age, worth, and importance, but also their care and storage.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Perhaps, the reason you own the book butler is due to the previous owner/owners...you, fill in the blank.
Now, off to my special place !

Roth, I'm amazed at you and your teams ability to consistently knock our socks off with a steady stream of awesome and innovative creations. As Horus1 said, I didn't know I needed a book butler until I saw this, now I have to have one! I'm keen to the diagonal mesh wire, it shows the books well and won't break in transit. The aging looks good too. I like old objects that show their age through their worn edges and little dings and scratches. The aging on this is nicely done. I'm curious about the unusual use of exposed screw and eyelets used to secure the top of the box lid. Is there a function need for this instead of the more conventional and discrete methods of attaching a top?
I'll need to raise the funds before I can afford this, but that will give me time to give more thought to any special construction requirements I might have. This is a nice addition to the fine line up of Outlaw products. Thanks, Bob

P.S. In comparing the initial design of the box without a handle to those with a handle, I see that the screws evidently are need to provide a more secure fit when used as a carrying case.
