Howdy Mental Folks
I would love to read a review of Anti-Tada that is not part of the advertising copy. It seems like it could be really amazing, but, (and all due credit to him for this) Mr Knepper does seem to have a real knack for talking pretty big in the ad copy for things that are mostly underwhelming once read. That is not to say they are not good, useful or practical... just not quite as grand as claimed. I'm just trying to gage wether or not to get it. I'm spewing I missed his half price sale... at $20 I would take a punt, at $40, I want to know a bit more. I don't care about the routines themselves, more about the ideas. Thanks in advance. |

Hi Trickstar.
The Anti-tada concept coined by Kenton is incredible powerful for the performer in various levels, depending in your goals. I think that is clear that "Anti-Tada" breaks the dramatic paradigm of normal entertainment, taking the attention off in the TADA (the applause and natural dramatic relief), rather extending the experience, trying to reach a different emotional impact. I know that a wise reader will get value of that publication, even if the reader is a strict commercial performer (doing a classic TADA act) . Best

I bought Kenton's Genuine Amazement. It was one of the best magic books I own. If you are searching for theory along with practical examples and techniques to infuse meaning into your magic, this is required reading.
I do not own Anti-Tada. I posted here because Kenton mentions that both books are devoted to similar concepts---making magic meaningful and allowing the audience to interpret the meaning rather than directly stating it. |

If you are looking for tricks that will make your audience wail in amazement and high five you on the way off of the stage...well it could happen, but this is primarily really great artistic theory (even though I LOVE No Smoking). This and Genuine Amazement are two great reads for any mentalist or magician looking for ways to better express themselves artistically, while touching their audiences on deeper emotional levels. I'm biased, I'm a Kenton fan, but I LOVE this little work and highly reccommend it.
