Charlie's Angels an both the 21 and 22 Jump street movies did well. WAY more than 50/50. Your math is way flawed. A movie that made a little, Starsky and 3 that did ok, not 50/50.

They were simply comedies. Good comedies still do well at the box office. Superhero movies started making real money when they started treating the source material with more respect and seriousness. Guardians of the Galaxy is the current best example of how you can add comedy to the genre and still treat the material seriously and have a great movie. |

A film has to make three times its budget to be considered a success. I brought up Dark Shadows because it tried to be campy fun and failed big time. I didn't consider "22 Jump Street" because I figured it was still out in distribution. But I see on imdb.com that it actually grossed 188 million out of a 50 million budget so it counts as a success. If we WERE to go campy old school for Wonder Woman, I'd suggest this actress; If you haven't seen the episode, she's "messy" because it's the end of the story and she and the guy (FBI agent Steely Booth) have just saved a girl and caught a murderer.
