Just kidding! I don't want to be Aldo! But I do admire his ability to warm up his audience with one liners. In a word, Aldo was funny! And funny = likeable!
Does anybody know of a book of one-liners of the style that he used? I'm putting together a parlor act, and I want some funny "jokes" to sprinkle in at appropriate moments. Nothing earth shattering or uproarious, but just a few zingers to keep an audience feeling good.

A couple I picked up on the Café, here, that I thought were pretty funny: "The other day me and my wife had a candlelight dinner. They were delicious! (We like to eat light.)
"I'm not the first person in my family to be in show business. My father was an Elvis impersonator. Not much call for it in the 1930's, though." Both of those tickled me. I'm looking for more!

Daffy, his name was Aldo Colombini, with "o" twice, like Colombia not Columbia.
Go to wildcolombini.com Rachel Colombini sells his DVDs and there is one about jokes and quick comments |

I apologize for the misspelling of Aldo's name. I am both embarrassed and chagrined. . I should know better and should be more careful.

Maybe not much for directly copying the stuff, because it's very Aldo (how could it not be!), but it got me thinking and working on my own style that reflects my sense of humor and persona. Ok, some of them, I actually use unaltered ... |

Aldo got away with groaners and stock gags because of his personality and likeable character. Very few others can.
