FROM WIKIPEDIA:

Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday observed throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico where the day is a bank holiday. The celebration takes place on October 31, November 1 and November 2, in connection with the triduum of Hallowtide: All Hallows' Eve, Hallowmas, and All Souls' Day.[1][2] Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars called ofrendas, honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. They also leave possessions of the deceased.

Scholars trace the origins of the modern Mexican holiday to indigenous observances dating back hundreds of years and to an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl. The holiday has spread throughout the world. In Brazil Dia de Finados is a public holiday that many Brazilians celebrate by visiting cemeteries and churches. In Spain there are festivals and parades and, at the end of the day, people gather at cemeteries and pray for their dead loved ones. Similar observances occur elsewhere in Europe, and similarly themed celebrations appear in many Asian and African cultures.

THE TUCK BOX:

We realize that there have been quite a few decks based around this theme over the past few months. Our design features 14 original cards including 12 court cards, back card and a joker each hand painted on canvas over the past 12 months. Once the paintings were completed the paintings were transferred digitally to a computer for the printing process. The deck will be printed by USPCC on their classic Air-Cushion Finish.

Risks and challenges

The Bicycle Day Of The Dead Deck has already been approved by USPCC for printing. We expect to receive the decks November 2014 or earlier and immediately begin shipping to all our backers. We do not anticipate and challenges with this project.

Thank You to all our past supporters! Smile

The Bicycle Elegance Playing cards will complete shipping by the 3rd week of August.

The Bicycle Starlight Playing cards will complete shipping by mid August. This is a few weeks ahead of schedule!

The Physique Playing cards will complete shipping by late August placing it a month ahead of schedule!

The Bicycle Disruption Deck which currently has 2 weeks left of funding is also in the beginning printing stages and we expect to ship these ahead of schedule as well.

How do we print and ship out rewards so quickly?

We have a close relationship with USPCC. They are able to print our designs quickly and we have a state art fulfillment center to quickly ship out our backer rewards. With out you, our backers, we could not make this happen. A BIG thank you to Kickstarter and most importantly all of you!
