Currently been learning how to do balloon animals given that a lot of leads I get is asking for balloon animals. Anybody know of any good resources to teach balloon animals? Just bought a book in a store that came with balloons and a pump for about $4.

There are some You Tube instruction videos by some balloon artists. Mr. Fudge is a good one.
Christopher Lyle, is the best I have ever seen, he takes balloon art to a new level.
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

I really enjoyed balloon school as a good resource on starting balloon animals. It also goes into some basic buisness tips on balloon models as well going through basic and advance balloons. It's not cheap, but it really is good. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/940
(I should point out that this was my starting point in balloon animals, so it should be good for you.) |

I just crafted up my first balloon animal. A dog. I managed to do it!

Just as there are magic forums, there are balloon forums. Some of them are excellent resources.

I learned balloons from the Balloon Magic Made Easy video (by Joe Lefler/Tricky the Clown).
It was easy to learn from, has a large selection, snimsls, hats, flowers, even a ray gun (30 different sculptures). |

I feel very humbled to be mentioned in this thread...thanks for the kind words. I don't feel worthy of such praise, but I'll play along...
First, take the balloons that came with your book and THROW THEM OUT! The book is fine, but the balloons that came with it are garbage. They will likely pop just by looking at them wrong. The two major brand names here in the US are Qualatex and Betalatex. I prefer Qualatex, but both are great balloons. Back when I began, like Tony, my very first learning came from the Joe Lefler (RIP) VHS series. Great videos to learn from. Unlike magic, You Tube is a great resource for learning balloon art, and it's free. You do have to sift thru much of the garbage to find the gems, but there is really great instruction out there at your disposal. My friend Dylan Gelineas has a great You Tube channel and teaches good quality stuff. I would also suggest Mark Byrne's Balloon DVDs. They are all EXCELLENT regardless of how long you've been doing stuff. They're all hats and can be created in 2 minutes or less...but are still awesome designs. I would also reach out to the balloon community in your area to find out when the local jams are. The best learning you can do is by hooking up with like minded folks and sharing ideas. You can always learn something. Best of luck as you add this new skill set to your act. You're in for a fun ride!

You are correct, the balloons that came with my book did pop a few times, though I was able to make a few balloon animals with them as well. I am going to get the balloons you recommended, that way I don't have to worry about them popping as much. Many thanks for your input Chris! I appreciate it!

Could you please send me a link where I could order qualatex balloons good for animal balloons? Thank you!

Chris, no doubt, has much more experience than me.
In my experience, for basic balloon animals, 260s are standard. Tony |

I was going to say something like that Tony but then it has been a long time since I bought them my info may be out of date. 2 inches around 60 inches long. 260q from Qualatex. What it is now I have no clue. But if you were wrong you have me for company!

260q's are standard I believe, but sculptures often use a lot of different sizes for different things, as well as different shapes.
