Hi guys,
I am looking for some tricks I can perform at a Night Club, Very loud environment. Not for picking girls, The Night Club contacted me, they will have like a "magic night" and they are looking for a magician. I though on Extreme burn, sponge ball, maybe a simple pick a card and find it. My mind just went blank. All ideas you have comment below Thanks. |

If you are going to be performing with loud music, as ambient noise, you better start looking for visual effects that require a minimal of the spoken word.

I performed in a club once but it was for an event so people weren't quite as drunk.
It was still really loud though! All I performed all night was: Sponge Balls Ninja Rings Professor's Nightmare I didn't bother with cards or coins - the lights were dim and I needed maximum visibility. I couldn't believe the response I got to the rings - everyone loved them including the bar staff behind me! All of these are really visual and can be seen in low lighting. For card stuff I think card to pocket + wallet would be best as the card travels far. With ambitious etc, they might not see their signature in the low lighting, whereas with card to pocket, you can hold it towards them to see. Extreme burn would be good, but make sure there are no drunk a**holes in your crowd first - you've got to be careful carrying around several hundred dollars in a nightclub. Perhaps change receipts into $1 bills to play safe. |

I've done so many venues like this, I can't count. Trust your gut on what effects to choose. Your mime skills will get a lot better by the end of the night! Don't think of this as a scary undertaking. These venues can be a ton of fun.

Thanks for the ideas guys.
Extreme burn is dangerous with drunk people, I might have a TT I'm my pocket with a blank paper, so if they hand me a bill to do, I change to the blank paper My list until now is: Extremne burn Sponge balls Ice breaker by lee smith Two card transposition. I might use a Pen thru bill, Melt by Matthew Johnson and some rubberbands to perform Stairway by marcus eddie, What do you guys think Keep going with the ideas |

Extreme Burn always kills, but use caution. I use real $1 and fake $100. They look very real, and if some idiot makes a grab I'm only out $4.
Crazy Man's Handcuffs Lethal Tender IT effects (conditional) Chop Cup (conditional) Coins Across Matrix Ring from Rope... I avoid card effects, the lighting is seldom right, the cards can get out of hand easily... and in my experience, people don't go for them as much. Michael's right though, go with your gut. Stick to effects that reset, pack small and play big. If you're not working out of your pockets, you're carrying too much stuff.

The few gigs I've had in busy nightclubs I've mainly used:
Card in hand transpo (using a dupe) Ambitious card to wallet to omni deck Sponge bunnies Also routines involving signature transpos play well |

Lethal Tender looks pretty good, but needs a gimmick and I don't have the time to wait for shipping, But it is something to keep in mind.
I am getting afraid of using extreme burn, I might use Bill Breaker by Bizzaro, it's not that much money if something happens Thanks for the advices and keep going |

You're sure this is for Strolling and not for a Stand-Up set, right?

Something to keep in mind is the more "white" you can show, the better for viewing purposes. Especially if they have any black lights on.
White rope (not red), lighter cards (if you use custom decks), etc.

Keep in mind that you'll use every bit of your non-verbal communications skills, in this noisy environment. When I performed in nightclubs, it was difficult to hear anything, and much of the audience didn't speak English, yet I had no trouble. Visual material that grabs attention is great for opening effects. I performed Fiber Optics, Egg Bag, Card to Wallet, Mismade Bill and Sponge Balls.

Bennett's Boner, a terrific torn & restored napkin effect. Perfect for a nightclub environment.
