This is kind of off-topic. But, I thought it was cool enough to share.
I never did like my middle name, I thought it was lame. Until I got into magic, WAY back when I was about 14 when I got one of Dai Vernon's books. From then on, I was quite proud of my middle name. But, to this day I have never told another magician why.... Magically, Chase Vernon Bitter AKA The Darck One

I have an interesting middle name. It's my grandfather's name (My dad's dad - I never got to meet him). It's "Lionel".
So, that makes me Andrew Lionel Luttrell, that ALL! |

I HATE mine. An ardent fresh air breather, saddled with the name of a pack of smokes. YUCK!
I'm sure at the moment of conception, my little swimmer guy didn't fight harder than the others; he asked the egg, "need a light?"

Yeah, I'm actually named after my Great Grandfather, Vernon Bitter. But hey, it applies in more than one area

Just your middle name sucks? Lucky you, my whole name is so common they use it on adverts for credit cards!

When I was at school my chums decided my middle name suited me better than my first name. They started calling me by it and it stuck. At university a friend from school visited me and got everyone there calling me by my middle name too. The folks at uni added the word magic before my middlename/nickname to seperate me from another George. So now my family call me Michael, my friends call me George and my customers (and my equity card) call me Magic George.
So there Michael George Quinn P.S. My brother has two middle names. I think that's just plain greedy and he should give one of them to Randy. |

When I was 12, I decided to start going by my middle name. Why? Because (thank you so much dad) I was given the kind of whimpy, nerdy first name that gets you repeatedly beaten on a playground! I swear that one day I am going to leagally change it to Elvis!

I'm fascinated by names. I honestly believe that some people will never 'make it in showbusiness' because they don't have the right name, regardless of talent or any other factor.
Below is a list of eleven professional soccer players, some Café members will know the answers, but I would rather hear from those who don't recognise the names, which sound like top flight players and which play in lower 'divisions'?; 1 Dave Swanick 2 Anthony Hargreaves 3 Gary Marrow 4 Danny Caldicott 5 Terry Bowker 6 Michael Owen 7 Nicky Butt 8 Paul Scholes 9 David Beckham 10 Rio Ferdinand 11 Emile Heskey Thanks to all those who can be bothered to reply!

I've never had the fortune of running across anyone with my middle name. Kathryn Macmillan Novak. I do know of a dictionary that has my middle name, though... maybe that's why I'm a grammar hostess. I was predestined to spell things correctly.
If anyone sees my sanity, please return it to
me. |

I thought Patrick was Padraig in Irish. I'm probably wrong though, it happens often.

Mine is Stuart, and I'm pretty sure this is because my father was convinced our family has Scottish heritage.
I've often wondered why parents give their children more than one "first name" - after all, they usually only call you by one of them!

LOL So true Jester, that second name meant you where in big trouble. If it was said with arms folded and a shaking head that w s your cue to start desperatly thinking of what it was you could've done and see if you can think of an excuse before you get to the door.

Mike, I'm sure you are irish, my dads obsesed, and has traced our name back to 16 century scottland where it changed into fergusen. of course, I was given a common name, after my dads moms name (chandler) but his moms brothers son, (cousin) is chris chandler, whe played in one of the superbowls for the falcons against the broncos, he was the starting quarterback. so after all, I just have an ordinary common middle name, nothing special whatsoever...
